Default Need help, adopting tomorrow
Hello everyone, a few questions for you guys...
We are driving tomorrow down to Maryland to meet with a rescue to adopt a pitbull... In previous post "2 females or 1 male 1 female", I had some questions, now I have some more.. What are some signs (besides growling) should I look for that tells me my dog does not care for the other? Is it wrong for me to ask for a trial period to see if the other dog gets along with mine in our home? Sometimes my dog gets jealous when we hang out with the house cats, is that a bad sign for the future if we do get another pit? any other concerns should I have...... Here is the link to him...

Just take it slow, he is a cutie! and he's only a pup, just one thing that may spark some aggression is your current dog seeing this new family member getting more attention then him/herself? so just remember to give your current dog extra love and affection and treats when you do bring your new pup home. No matter what your dog is going to be a little jealous because he/she is the king of the castle and now he/she is going to half to share.. so if you take things slow and show you current dog extra love for a while till you feel they have bonded and you can give the both the same amount off attention i think things will go well for you... please keep us updated on their progression together! i wish you the best of luck!

If it's a good rescue, they will encourage a trial period. I know of a local rescue, where each adoption starts as a foster situation for a few weeks. Then, if all went well, an adoption contract is executed.
