I think it would depend on the dog and the dog's issues. I watch both shows and the dogs that each of them take on are for the most part very different. Cesar is usually trying to rehabilitate aggressive or fearful dogs and stresses that he is not a trainer, while Victoria tends to focus on teaching dogs better manners and working on problem behaviors that are much less severe. I don't 100% agree with either of their methods but I think that there are different cases that one would handle better than the other and vice versa.

I like many of you watch both Shows I do not watch everytime is comes on but do occasionally tune in . I believe both have info that is useful both have methods I disagree with as well. I have to admit Victoria can annoy the hell out of me sometimes I would like to see someone knock her on her A$$. Some of her ways I see as rude.

Oh heck, If I had to choose it would be Cesar. Of all the 'tv dog trainers' he's the only one that I would go near. There are so many clowns out there who call themselves 'dog trainers' (Brad Pattison for one, what a joke) that I would be more comfortable with a local trainer who hasn't seen any camera time.

There is this one link on Facebook, and when he moves his hand past that little Rudy dog, the dog TOTALLY flinches. Gaud.... if he does that shit in front of people, can you imagine what he does when he's alone with the dogs.

Oh man, I'm from the city where the show is filmed and I can't stand seeing his booths at pet shows, he's such an asshole. He's worse off camera, we have groups who follow him with their own camera's to record the BS that doesn't make it to TV and people would be horrified with what goes on. He's been caught hitting dogs, lifting a dog off it's feet via pinch collars, yelling at them and dragging them around on leashes. Now he's hired a bunch of people to block everyone else from seeing what he's doing when he's out in public. |

There was a comedian who did a routine on pets, and was talking about cats vs dogs.
It was something along the lines of: "A dog will pull you out of a burning building, the cat will leave your ass to burn unless you have a can of cat food in your hand." That's how I see Victoria, turning dogs into cats. Won't do shit for you unless you have a treat in your hand. I'm not opposed to thumping a dog upside the head IF it appears necessary. But Caesar is too nuts for me. I might whack a dog in the butt, or smack one in the nose, but I've never rolled a dog unless we were playing or it was injured and it had to be put on its back fast. So as I said, I wouldn't want either of them near any dog of mine. |

honestly,
I'd never let Cesar near my dogs after hearing/reading what he does. We've used some methods that Victoria has used on our dog for training, and he gets used to them after only a few times, and we don't use the treats after the first few times, and it has worked out well so far. The key thing is repetition. We do the first few with treats, and then start working without treats, and it works out well for our dog at least. Our dog isn't as stubborn as other dogs, but then again all dogs are different. I have seen some of the dogs that Victoria has worked with (DA boxer for example), and the owners don't give treats all the times from what I saw, but then again we only see 30-60 minutes of the weeks of training these dogs go through. If I had to choose one of the two, it'd be Victoria, but honestly, I'd rather find a local trainer that has speciality in my dog's breed and work from there. |

I'm not sure if his heart is 100 percent in it for the dogs. After all it wasn't that long ago that he slapped his name on a bunch of different products that they sell at Petco. I just get this bad vibe when I see him on anything that I don't feel that he would be a person I would trust. I think he might be in it for him more than the dogs. I may be wrong but its just a vibe I get. That being said I do like Victoria Stillwells show. I miss it terribly since I don't have animal planet. I like her method, this is a method a lot of people use when teaching basic training and doggy manners. Personally though I don't want either of them training my dog. They are TV trainers and their shows are entertaining. If my dog needs a trainer I already have one that I trust my dog with and that is who we will go to. I don't rely on TV trainers to tell me the obvious. |

I would take Cesar.
I'm of the mindset that there is something to learn from most any trainer. Take what is useful to you and works for your dog and leave the rest. I also do not like some of the things that Cesar does but there is more to his methods than what many people see as mean or negative. If you "get" his understanding of communicating with the dogs in their way you can use his methods without really being mean or negative. You either "get it" or you don't. ![]() |

The only good to come from Ceasar is to exercise your dog....that a tired dog is a happy dog. And that's where it ends.
He believes in shutting a dog down completely. I remember back in the day when training a horse was of the same mentality. And guess what? It may do what you want, but there is no spirit...only fear of you. Now, I would love for Ceasar to come dominate the DA out of my dogs. Good look, stupid fool. And two, if only my Shar Pei/Cane Corso was still alive. He would've put Ceasar in the hospital.....and I would've laughed all my remaining baby weight off at the sight. You can be in control of your dog without having to keep a shock collar on it at all times and shock the bejeezus out of it or manhandle it. And "alpha"? Dogs aren't stupid. They know you, the human, are not a dog. They do not see humans in the same light as they do other dogs. This whole thing is comical. |
