A little info on AmBullies, since many people often confuse them with APBT's
An American Bully is not an American Pit bull Terrier. They were created by Dave Wilson and are associated with bloodlines like Razors Edge, Gotti, and Greyline. Most of the Ambullies you see are blue, black and fawn in color, but can come in any of the colors that the APBT comes in. They are much bigger then an American Pit Bull Terrier. They were bred for larger size and looks. Ambullies were also bred to be the ultimate companion dog. They have great well mannered temperaments. Ambullies have large heads and are thicker and lower to the ground then the APBT. They do have American Pit Bull in them but also have been bred with other breeds to create the large massive appearance they have. No one knows for sure but its a common belief they were mixed with Mastiffs and/or English Bulldogs. This is were the controversy comes in. The American Bully does have its own registry which is called the American Bully Kennel Club. The standards for these dogs are very loose. There is classic bullies, XL Ambullies, pocket sized Ambullies and and extreme bullies which is a incredibly massive dog. It appears that there is many breeders that say they sell American Pit Bull Terriers that are actually the Ambully. The looks on the classic or well bred ones are impressive as they are beautiful dogs, but to many breeders just breed for size and nothing else. |

You say they were bred with other breeds, but then you say no one knows for sure...Which is it? Why no one knows for sure, is because of paper hanging.. How can you get the AmBully I posted on your thread, by just an APBTxAmStaff? Sometimes, a dog will throw one pup out of the litter bigger than the sire and dam, but not that huge of a difference. |

Neither.. I have Mutts.. although I *think* Piper was supposed to be an Am. Bully 'type' and something went wrong
![]() Her parents were HUGE (both had to have been 65+ lbs. easy), but for some reason, she's short, yet weighs almost 40lbs. and is very compact and muscular. I have no idea what she is or what happened LOL. |

Mixing this: Mine is a mutt, I wouldn't own a dog that looked like either of the last 2 pics, either of the first two pics would be fine. But I don't care about show ring conformance so I'll rate a dog higher for other things and consider it a keeper when many people wouldn't take it simply because of how the ears lay or the color of the eyes or markings. In my opinion an unhealthy purebred that looks good is inferior to an ugly mutt that is in good health. ![]() |

I have a rescue dog, he was listed as an Am. Staff... but I say this all the time, I think he is a mutt, he is to tall (25 inches to the withers) and he is not that wide, I think he might have either chocolate lab, visila(SP) or great dane in him
![]() but then I have my true mutt, a GSD mixed with either Am. Staff (as they said) or American Bully, I did not really get to look at the dad so could not truly tell hehe ![]() |

I couldnt tell you either way what ours are.. We thought for 3 years tinkerbell was a apbt, but then I joined here and realized, she just might have been an ambully. but who knows.. rajah was the only one we knew was an apbt - both parents were registered! the rest are ours and thats all I need to know.. if anyone asks me, I just tell them to take their guess!

The first two pics are two nice long legged dogs, why anyone wanted the low riders I don't want to know. If I wanted a dog that was low to the ground I'd get a Shih-Tzu. ![]() |
