Default They are killing dogs in Baghdad
I couldn't find another forum to post this. Even the vets are killing the dogs. It's so tragic.

I don't see the problem. They have more important things on their mind than looking after strays and finding homes for them or whatever.

With so many dogs in such bad conditions, somethings got to be done. I hope their shooters know how to shoot. That would be way better then poison.

At least they are actually doing something about the stray animal problem, unlike certain countries we live in.

It is sad but look at the conditions they were living in.....

I'm sure some rescue organization from America has already over there trying to bring dogs back here, like America doesn't have enough strays of it's own.

There actually is one for dogs that were befriended by soldiers. I saw it on TV. I think it's a good thing. They help get the dogs home to the soldier's family, so they have their dog waiting for them when they get back. I think it's a good thing. War sucks. If a dog helps them get through it, I'm glad there's a way for them to be able to save that dog.

I have been there, and the dogs get very, very aggressive. Many Marines/Soldiers take dogs on FOB's (Forward operating bases) just as pet "over there"

Killing dogs for fun is just plain wrong, but if someone is trying to remove the stray problem, its their country. The US does the same thing. As unfortunate as it is.

Our boys have got way more important things to worry about over there than dogs.

I agree. As long as it's being done humanely, I don't see a problem with it. I'd rather see them be PTS/shot then starve and suffer, or just keeping pumping litters out their whole lives.
It'd be nice if they had a free spay/neuter program over there, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Umm yea anyone who feels bad for the dogs should go over there Seriously! There is no difference between how the US handles its stray problem and the way they do...we just have books, manuals, and fancy equipment. Unfortunately in a place where even humans dont have toilets I think they can shoot dogs that are attacking people JMO

Putting a dog out of the misery of living a disease-ridden life focused entirely on finding its next meal so that it won't die from starvation in less than a week is actually quite the humane thing to do. Same goes for the better-off dogs that are still roaming the streets and have no homes.

There are far worse things than a painless death.

I can't criticize a country that doesn't have all of their public schools operational, can't get all of their utilities online and has regular violence based on ethnicity while being occupied by a foreign power for not being able to handle their stray dog problem with warm fuzzies.

The dogs are suffering hunger, thirst and disease while reproducing at random. They become a danger to people and need to be dealt with in the easiest and most efficient way possible. If thats a bullet, so be it.

I have keepan eye out for stories of soldiers who want to bring their pet dogs home. Its a lot more difficult that one would think it should be. When I come across stories about soldiers trying to keep their dogs and bring them home I do the usual online petition and letter writing. Some of those stories are really heartbreaking.

If you've never been to another country to see what life is like for a stray... well, let's just say our stray animals are living the good life.

Quit waisting US resources! Look at the thousands of animals that die every day in our shelter system. An they want to import mongrals from another continent... Give me a freaking break with this crazy ass shit! If any thing we should show those folks how to cook those animals..bbq,stew, ect. Yes we are occupying that country, but lets not forget they are sucking our resources. Only makes sense to utilize what they already have or what is left.
