Definatley a dog Id get from a good breeder for sure. But man I think they are so cute (well that last one is nightmare worthy). Im into the hairless though, hubby is alergic to cats and I love cats (mine unfotunatly lives with my parents still because her hair drives hubbys allergies crazy, and shes a magnet to him, wont leave him alone) so I suggested one day getting the hairless cat... he wasnt to fond of the idea lol Ill either have a hairless cat or hairless dog one day though.. I WILL!

Just an FYI...those pictured ARE the "hairless" variety. There are no completely hairless cresties. The ones pictured are "groomed". Most "hairless" cresties have at least some amount of body hair that needs to be shaved in order to get the "pony" look.

Technically, there are three varieties of cresties. The Powderpuff, the hairy hairless and the true hairless. Those pictured above are the hairy hairless. The true hairless dogs still have hair on their heads, feet and tail, and varying levels of body hair, it's just not nearly as attractive as the hairy hairless.

If you want a completely naked dog...look up the American Hairless Terrier.

As far as hairless cats...they're really only slightly less allergy affecting than furred cats. The allergens from cats are produced in their saliva, and when they groom themselves the allergens stick to the fur (or skin) dry, and flake off, causing allergic reactions. It's not actually the fur or that peole are allergic to.

If you want a more hypoallergenic cat, look up the Siberian. Scientists have discovered that this breed produces less of the allergen in it's saliva then do other breeds.

The true hairless tend to have coarser hair...almost terrier like. In my opinion...pretty unattractive.

When I get one, I'll be getting a powderpuff. They are cute with or without grooming, and can be clipped in the hairy hairless fashion. But don't look like crap when left ungroomed. And...bonus...they're about 2/3 the price of a hairy hairless 1/3 the price of a true hairless.

Looking at some breeders...powderpuffs go for around $300-$500, where as true hairless can be upwards of $1500 +, depending on the quality of the furnishings (head, foot, and tail hair).
