Default Since Bob Stevens won....
Just something I was curious about... now that Bob Stevens has fought his way to the Supreme Court and won.... and match videos are covered under the first amendment......

Where's all the advertising for match videos?

I really did think that once it was all said and done and Stevens won his case that there would be a flood of match videos for sale and so far I've not seen many at all..

Was anyone else expecting something similar? And why do you think it hasn't happened yet?

I figure people either A) haven't heard of the win or B) don't want to risk paying legal fees all they way to the Supreme Court.

B.. wouldn't come into play as the videos are now covered under the first amendment... they can be sold and owned... thats my understanding...

And Stevens carried his case there with a public defender!! Makes it twice as impressive!

Even with the ruling you can still be charged, arrested and held. Besides, dog fighting is still illegal anyone posting the video would have to prove its artistic or political value (the Supreme Court has long upheld the right to write, photograph and record otherwise quasi-legal things in an artistic or political commentary context which Bob has covered as he is an author and considered an artist because of that) and have to prove their video wasn't filmed on US soil since even attending a fight is illegal. Could be a long battle and the defendant could be jailed the whole time.

Because, I hope, those involved see the wisdom of keeping anything about dog fighting quiet and away from anyone that doesn't already HAVE this stuff.

A long time ago, a friend of mine and a very strong advocate of matching the breed said the beginning of the end was the old Your Friend and Mine magazines and such that were put out there.

My question is, WHY the need to spread this stuff far and wide? ANY of it? As legal as Stratton's books were, WHY the need to have them published by something other than a private company so that they were available to ANY and EVERY one?

I agree with this, and the answer is there IS no need and it shouldn't be done imo.

Thats what I am figuring 6pack.... someone will take the leap and do it... and it'll snowball from there.

Not saying I want to see them at the local RedBox for rent...lol... but I was just surprised not to see stuff here and there outside of the normal venues for such things.

I figure those videos are going to have a very "select" market and any advertising of them will target that market... most folks will not see it.. they are going to have to be looking for it...

Yeah I remember the ASPCA was trying to appeal the case. So much for that.

I wouldn't mind seeing one or two... if people object all they need to do is NOT watch... (sigh) why does society insist on makin things more complicated than they need to be?
