almost had Chihuahuas for breakfast

So I am walking with Diesel up to the corer store this morning witch is only like 3 blocks from my house. I round the corner and see 2 chiwahwahs on the opposite side of the street I continue walking not thinking anything of it (most dogs dont leave their yard around here). These 2 little yip dogs come running up to me and Diesel barking their heads off (we were across the street) and I was like oh great here we go. I had Diesel sit and we just stood there. The whole time I was thinking about what the news headlines would say, "PitBull eats chiwahwahs for breakfast, owner is to blame!". The dogs were not charging us just standing 4 feet in front of us and barking. So we wait and wait then FINALLY the ignorant owner calls the dogs. They just open the door and called, didnt come get them, nothing. So the dogs start running for their house and we continue walking then get this the owner gives the dirtiest look I have ever got in my life! There was a cop crossing the street up the road and I was praying he would come and fine the owner for loose dogs or something. I mean what if they attacked? Of course it would be Diesels fault not the yippy dogs with the ignorant owner. Thank god Diesel is not DA or that would've been a mess. Seriously WTF? I hate people sometimes.

Twendypreency 05-16-2010 03:46 PM

I hate that and then they get mad at you. I have people tell me to get away from their fence and its their dog barking and my dog paying no attention to them. and the side of the road is not their yard. I have had tho stand my dog up and hug him when op dogs run up on us. but if the owner dosent try to help I drop him im not gonna let another dog chew him up.

tofRobbroolve 05-16-2010 05:33 PM

Unfortunately that is the state of things: it is always the pitbull's fault. Cooper is still a puppy and wants to play with the dogs who run through their 'useless' electric fences, but I try to be vigilant and make him sit still because he could easily hurt little yappy ones and then be blamed. It sounds like you handled it beautifully; Diesel is a good representative for the breed.

I'm glad things didn't end badly.
I'd be feeding that dog extra treats all day http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

...there's always a next time, and there will be one, as long as there are
stupid people with loose dogs...there will be one.

Be prepared.
Always expect a fight.
Next time it could be a larger dog that does charge or
the next time could be the time your dog decides it's not going
to put up with another dog's yapping bs.
One moment they could be wagging tails and sniffing each other
and in the blink of an eye...
it is always the pitbull's fault In a perfect world, all dogs would be under their owners' control and
not running loose or allowed to "come up to meet a new doggie
friend"
uninvited, even while both are on lead.

Since it's not a perfect world, and we can't fix stupid, I try to make my own perfect world for my adult dogs for their own protection.
It's a work in progress.
Sorry for the t/j
Glad everything turned out ok

I have picked Lugz up and carried him a block because little yapping chihuahua came charging at us when we were out on a run. And I have nothing against chihuahuas, Lugz lives with 3.

That's when you give that a-hole owner the finger while you walk by.

Oh believe me I was thinking about giving the owner more then that, but they live like 2 blocks away from me and I dont need any problems. I have a "pitbull" thats enough of a reason to dislike me, I dont want them giving me hell because of it.

You're nicer than me. I've given up on caring about what most of my neighbors think. I usually give people like that the finger, and yell "keep your f**king dogs on your property moron!"

Yeah but all I need is that person to make up some bullshit lie about how my dog was aggressive or mistreated then have the animal control come to my house see my spring pole, flirt pole, tread mill, and a scar here and there on my dog and take him away. Yes they will over look the basic obedience certificates the great health of my dog and up to date vet records because he is a pitbull with a spring pole and a nice build. One middle finger can do alot. And believe me I have absolutely no problem telling people where to stick it, but me coming off as aggressive makes my dog look aggressive as well strickly because he is under my control and people assume too much now a days.

I'm glad it turned out ok for you. This is what I'm afraid of walking my dog. I already know that she will attack a small dog and now when I'm walking I'm so afraid of dogs off leash.

If you are afraid of that then walk with a muzzle or just keap your dog under conrtol and carry a breakstick, no big deal... what ever happended with that anyway do you get to keep your dog?

Fouttysotlalf 05-17-2010 10:35 PM

Everything is ok for now. I'm just kind of waiting to see if they guy tries to sue me. I did some research here on muzzles and it seems like most people were not fans of them.

http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif Sounds about right. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif

The kids and I were out and about with CoCo last night and spent our walk basically deking out loose dogs left right and center. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/mad.png Drives me up the freakin' wall. These MORONS had this super cute puppy, I think maybe a King Charles Spaniel, just running loose all over the road, in the park, running up to strange dogs that wanted to eat it and the didn't even seem to have a leash WITH THEM! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/no2.gif Then it ran up to CoCo so I just got ahold of her wide collar on either side and held tight while she struggled and of course *I'm* the bad guy. That poor freakin' pup deserves so much better than their stupid asses.

Don't you just LOVE how the nice weather brings out all the idiots with dogs. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/mad.png

Of course asswipe who likes to keep his Presa loose on his front lawn while he's in the house or in the back yard is still doing it dispite the fact I bought him a tie up and threw it on the porch. I guess he didn't get the hint. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/mad.png I've had enough. I'm getting some dog pepper spray. It's just come down to that.

You do what you gotta do. I muzzle Tank as I barely out weigh him and with him, it's not that he ''might'' bite a dog, he WILL. He's just waiting for the chance. As soon as ones in his reach, friendly, aggressive, male, female, puppy, doesn't matter, he'll grab it and he's got freak mouth. I seriously had a hard time training him to leave the spring pole with a breaking stick his bite is so strong. I take ZERO chances with him. For the girls, because they are easier to manage, I carry a muzzle, a breaking stick and they have TWO leashes on them at all times just incase one comes loose as it's happened before with Tank, THANKFULLY he was double leashed at the time. I won't hesitate to muzzle my dogs if I think I need to. Screw what anyone else thinks. My dogs safety is only second to the safety of my kids.

No doubt. I ragged that asshole with the Presa, but I kept it as under control as I could as he could easily figure out where I live and maybe even through some poisoned meat into the yard or who knows what. It's a fine line between making your point and protecting your own, so I totally get where you're coming from.

We now either have to walk a half an hour out of our way to do the errands we have to do, or brave the possibility of this dog coming at us and walk on the opposite side of the street through ditches and other peoples front yards just to avoid that guys house. It's total bullshit and it pisses me off. I shouldn't have to worry about my kids being taken down by a massive guardian breed every time we leave the freakin' house. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/mad.png With Raven's enlarged spleen, it wouldn't even take a bite to risk her, one good knock down and she could literally start hemmoraging and die, but this guys dog has GOT to have his freedom. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/no2.gif

I walk Cooper early in the morning to avoid some of these loose dog issues...although even that doesn't work as well as I would like! I just don't understand these people who let their dogs run around without a leash or rely totally on their electric fences. They can definitely be a headache for the rest of us! A double leash is a good idea...I have wondered what I would do if Cooper's leash ever broke. He is stronger than me already.

larentont 05-18-2010 02:28 PM

I walk Diesel in the mornings we try to find the nature trails with the least amount of people possible (easy in this town people are too lazy to walk). Then at night once it gets dark we walk the nature trail behind my house because people dont walk there at dark because thats when people get abducted and robbed according to the news. Every monday my friend and I usually go take our dogs on some private property that we have permission to use and let them run off leash. My walks are carefully planned. When I do walk in a populated nature trail its to brush up on the heal and leave it's while we are there.
