I GOTTA VENT before I EXPLODE!
I've been stewing over this all day and it's just not getting any better!
*takes a breath*
This afternoon about 3PM I was awoke (yes I was still in bed because I woke up earlier with a bad headache so I took medicine and went back to sleep) by the outside dogs, Deisel and Nala, going OFF at something. I looked out the window and couldn't see anything so I just assumed it was the cats and dozed back off. About 15 minutes later I got up and let Samson, Daph and Dolly out and went to the bathroom. Again I hear the dogs RAGING just completely going balistic over something. I jump up, grab my shoes and open the front door, what do I see?
This chick that lives down the road (not actually my NEIGHBOR per se she lives like three houses down) is standing in the road outside my house with this German shepherd just standing there. And my dogs are having a FIT! She is standing were I can't really see her but she is in direct eye sight of Deisel's chain spot and were the dogs in the fenced yard can see her. I open the door and she starts walking again.
My car stays at my grandma's house because the window is broke and its been raining so I stow it under her carport so I guess she didn't think anyone was home so she was trying to show how big and bad her GSD was????
The next time I see her walking that dog I'm going to just stand in the door and watch and if I see her doing it again I'm going out there and I'm going to confront her....be it good, bad or ugly.
I am so a calm, even tempered, passive aggressive person but there are three things you don't fvck with in my world: My mom and grandma, my nieces and nephew and my dogs and she is trying to antagonize my dogs and get them ralled (sp?) up. Why? I don't know. But she's got ME ralled up now, stupid bitch. OMGGGG I am so PISSED!

And I think I know why i am so pissed.
It's because if something were to happen, say Deisel's hardware failed and he got a loose and attacked the GSD or Samson escaped from the backyard and got into it with the dog, they wouldn't care that she had been walking up and down the road antagonizing my dogs on nooooo all they'd see is Pitbulls getting out of their yard and attacking a woman and her dog(and OMG using that term to describe her makes my fingers wanna dry up and just fall off).

Because I'm not that immature and childish to do something like that. This "woman" is like 34 years old and still doing stupid stuff like this. I guess she thinks I'm suppose to be impressed cause she has a German shepherd....
Everybody around here knows I love dogs...that's cool. If she wanted to show me her dog okay...why not do it like a normal person, come to my door knock and say I wanna show you my dog.

Bring hers a little closer to my dogs? Why would she even think that? Especially since it looked like nobody was home.
When we were growing up we had a similar problem with the SAME girl and her friends. They had this pitbull/chow mix (very dog aggressive) that they always had walking with them when they walked up and down the road in the summertime and every time it would get into a fight with our dog we had (a very docile australian shepherd/ collie mix). My mom and aunt asked them numerous times to put the dog on a leash when they came up the road or leave it at home, they never would until one day the dogs starting fighting and my aunt went into her house and got my uncles gun and told them to get their dog or get pieces of their dog.....
She is ignorant and there is no logical excuse for what she was doing.....she was just trying to rall (sp?) my dogs up. (again spelling..how the heck do you spell that????)
And i am very levelheaded until it comes to someone trying to jeopardize the safety of my dogs.

People tend to do this because they want to test if their dogs have it in them to fight. You'll get this a lot, I just go out there and they tend to move. If they don't, I would put a leash on my dog and then allow my dog to go up to their dog, that tends to make them run away :P

From my experience I have to say there may be a more reasonable explanation for what happened. I actually came to this forum because my neighbor has an APBT that is frequently at large and actually attacked my dog while he was on leash and we were passing, not trying to rile him up, etc. Often when this dog is not completely at large it is on a tie down. I tend to stop with my dog a ways away when I see it is outside unattended because I am afraid of a fight and want to wait a distance away to try to avert that and to observe if the dog is properly secured before I pass.

Perhaps it is not so sinister, maybe she is just afraid. BTW, I never pause to see if my dog has fight in him and I would be truly horrified if some a**hole thinking I was “testing the fight,” in my dog brought the DA aggressive dog up to mine. If your gods are not behind a fence there is a good chance that the other person is afraid and that is why she stalls. I have been there and if the hardware fails and she is walking by and your dog attacks hers that is your fault, because if it is a situation where they are likely to attack another dog if there is a failure, etc you should secure them better.

Sorry if I seem a jerk, but my dog has been horribly attacked in a similar situation and a tie down with access to passersby is not proper containment for an unattended dog.

Deisel is not on a tie down. He is on an axle that is driven into the ground with a chain on it. The chances of him getting loose are slim to none but sh!t happens. And he is not near the road nor is my fence. They are both actually probably about 50-75 feet from the road.

It's really hard to explain how it went down. The next time she does it I will just video it because I know she will do it again because nobody said anything to her today, again that's just her character.

I know what you're talking about...
a week ago there was this chick walking her mops dog on a retractable leash.
I had put 3 of the dogs outside to go potty (frenchie, JRT and beagle) and all of the sudden, just standing at the door I see them bolting on the side of the house at the gate and starting to bark and growl like crazy!

I take a few steps to be able to see next to the house, and what do I see?
that mops dog AGAINST my gate, trying to attack my dogs, and my dogs trying to get at him and rip him to pieces.
where was she?

I asked her politely NOT to do that, yet next day it's the same story...

I freaked out and yelled at her like I was insane! lol
I had a bad day, and I already asked her one time politely.
it must have been something along the lines of "get your fucking dog away from that gate you retard!"
she jumped up (must have scared her! lol) looked at me all shocked and took her dog back and started walking again...

next day I was watching at my window and she just continiued walking, PULLING HER DOG NEXT TO HER! lmao!

as for people wanting to challenge your dog or even see how their dog will react, sadly, those are the people I encounter the most.
but for the most part those have amstaffs and not some shepherd dog

Or she could have just been taking a gander at some good looking bulldogs while she was walking her GSD? Or your dogs started pitching such a fit as soon as they saw her & her dog she stopped & stood still? Maybe she was afraid to move until you opened the door & she knew you'd be there if a dog got loose? There is more to this than is told. Unless you can read her mind, you don't know if she was trying to prove her GSD was "big & bad." In fact, I'd be inclined to doubt that was the case. IMO it sounds like you are making a mountain out of a molehill.

At the risk of having to eat crow MAYBE I did overreact....but I don't think I did. I think what I thought was happening was. As I said I've known her and her ways for YEARS now.
But I will believe that nobody could be that immature at 34 years old and just believe that she stopped as a precautionary measure.....I will trust that she didn't do it in an attempt to rile up my dogs.
She is innocent until proven guilty...innocent until she does it again.

I hace had people do this to me alot. on walks they eill see how close they can get themselves or their dogs to my dogs so now I alwats walk between my dog and the people' your setup sounds fine much like mine. I think the lady was trying to be a jacka##. because If I walk past a yard that has alot of dogs or I think they can get of the chain or out the fence I cross the road and go past the yard as fast as I can. NOT STAND THERE! thats dumd. anyway keep a look out. like you said the pitbull will get the blame. I have shot at people in my back yard messing with my dogs.

Why don't you go down & find out what's going on with her? I am 34 & I stop for a pack of raging shih tzus! For example when I walk my dogs I have to go by a home that has several shih tzus that will hit the fence as soon as they see us. I'm sure their owner thinks I am a HUGE a-hole b/c I know they can get out of the fence (they have before) so when they hit the fence I stop, stand still in the street & let them rage at the fence until they've calmed down. Then I move on quietly. I've found if I do that, often times they won't come out of the fence, but if I ignore them & don't let them calm down first they'll get out of the fence & try to bite my dog & I in the street.

Either way I know the woman of the house hates me - she gives me the stink eye every time she sees me. But I'm not trying to bother her or her dogs, I just don't want to get bit (small dog bites hurt too!) or my dog to make a headline by killing a one of their little rat dogs.

But anyhoo ... enough about me. Maybe you could go down & talk to her & find out if she is scared of the dogs or something? If you don't resolve the problem, it will just keep re-occurring & there is nothing positive in that. All it will do is get you & your dogs stirred up again & she will likely be spreading rumors about your "vicious" pit bulls.

What kind of logic is that? This person's pit bulls are in HER yard. Why would someone in their right mind walk onto someone else's property to bring their dog closer to someone else's dog?! That's just asking for trouble.


I would just politely confront her next time, and maybe ask about her GSD (to break the ice.) Even if I saw nice looking dogs in someone's yard, if I had my dog...and their dogs were reacting to mine, I wouldn't just stop there to cause more grief. I might come back later, however, and compliment them on their dogs (As I have done in the past.)

There is a (pretty) Chow Chow kept out in someone's 4 ft. chain-link fenced backyard in our neighborhood that charges the fence everytime I walk my dogs around the neighborhood. He gets himself so worked up (we've stopped before when the owner was out) that he starts drooling and panting hard. The owner told us to "just ignore him." Luckily, the fenced portion of their yard where the dog is kept is a good 100 feet from the road. I don't know if this dog is aggressive, protecting its yard, or whatever, but I sure wouldn't bring my dog for a closer look.

No one ever said this was her logic. The OP clearly states she was standing in the road, neither she nor her dog appeared to be anywhere near the OP's dogs.

I would hazard to say either she was just looking at the dogs or was scared to move on. If she wanted to do a sniff & greet she might have asked if it was OK when ncpbm came to the door.

Just a thought.
