Wanted to get everyone's feelings on weight and dogs- mine is about 51 lbs., which is a bit larger than alot of APBT females; she is just about 2 yrs old & eats like a horse but we exercise her alot, so I am thinking that we shouldn't be worried if she drops weight on occasion.
She look underweight or just right to everyone? I'm inclined to say she's fine. Enjoy the pics. She is a rescue, so no papers - can't say for sure she is purebred or if so, what lines. I don't see much chance of her being mixed, though, just from her looks and shape and behavior (wants to tear other dogs to pieces haha). One thing for sure, she does love to sleep in the bed and to play outside. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Definately in the first photo she looks a little on the thin side but that just might be her coat, it looks like I'm seeing ribs. In the other photos you can see she is quite muscular and looks pretty good so its hard to tell I'm afraid. But if I were to go by the first photo alone I would say she looks a little thin. I love that white patch on the back of her neck/head by the way.

Budboy- thanks for the kind words, appreciate that.
SBT - you can see her last 3-4 ribs, which I see alot on working APBT's, but she isn;t in actual training, so I'm not sure how she does it haha Dogmanhazel - would love to show her, but we rescued her from a kill shelter, so no papers. Wouldn't be right to claim purebred - not fair to all those who have paid alot of money for APBT bloodlines. |

Imwst - she's just under 2 yrs, so I think at that age a dog is really in its prime and easy to get in good shape.
Also, I walk her briskly for about 40 minutes every early morning and my fiancee walks her in the late afternoon/early evening for another 45 mins + (and weighs her down with a backpack full of bottled water to keep her from going too crazy on the leash haha). We take her to the shore, hiking, etc. also and play ball in the yard, etc. ---------- Post added at 07:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:19 PM ---------- Thanks for the kind words everyone- will be back tomorrow to check out any advice/opinions on weight the members have. |
