Default todays walk with Goren
ok so today I walked Goren (just got back about 20 mins ago) and well its warm out so EVERYONE is walking around and stuff. Goren did really well, very excited at all the people, pretty good ignoring the dogs and such. The good things that happen when I am POed about people (the post on that chick in my town really ticks me off, I was kinda looking for DA dogs behind fences on my walk to see if I could spot the house but did not find it) on the way home from my walk I walk past what at a glance was 2 Chis and 2 ladies (probably 18-20 years old each) and they ask is that a pit bull, I stop and say yea, one says awwww mine is too (the ones that looked like Chis lol yea I was having total perifial vision when I thought they were chi's one was a pit maybe Ambully the other was a I think schnauzer SP) well anyhow she was excited and I told her to just watch out for DA because its genetic, told her where a good vet is to get him clipped, told her how much shots are and how this breed is pretty easily trainable, the pup was 8 weeks old so was whining because it wanted to play with Goren and Goren was acting like a puppy doing high pitched parks and half play bowing (I think Goren's play bowing was what was making the pup whine lol) anyhow that was the 1st thing that was good on my way home, then when I came about 3 blocks from home a girl wanted to pet Goren, she asked, and I said yea, and she said how she loves pit bulls all in all a great walk only 1 stray that I walked by and no I saw no flexie leashes (they really piss me off lol)

That does sound like a good walk. I don't run in to many people when I walk my dogs in my neighborhood, and when I do, they steer clear. I walk them a lot in more public areas so they get more socialization. The biggest problem I have are dogs running loose wanting to torment or greet my dogs, and my pit is DA to strange dogs. The owners who let their dogs run around and go potty anywhere in the neighborhood really get me going. Don't even get me started on flexie leads either! I usually use 1-2ft leashes, but never more than 4ft, and that's all I need.

Atleast your walk was better than mine yesterday! Took Odie out and he scared the crap out of this lady who said she was afraid of big dogs. Odie sniffed her and she yelped. Odie looked at me like what is wrong with her. Then this older cuban gentleman sees Odie and Odie wanted to say hi! He said he was afraid of dogs because in cuba a dobie bit him. I said he was a good boy and he wouldn't bite he just wanted to sniff him. He let Odie sniff him no pats and then I realized on the way home he lived caticorner from me. He opened his door and a little poodle came out looking at Odie. Odie is reactive but usually has problems with big dogs. I pulled Odie closer and he just sniffed the poodle and the man I think nearly had a hard attack. He looked like it. I told him see, good boy! He tried to tell me he thought Odie was going to eat the little dog but was lost in the translation.

awww pitpupmom I hope your next walk is better, sounds more comical than anything, at least there was no DA large dogs loose.

I did not walk down by the river (Goren and my fav. place to walk to) because I know there is at least 1 loose dog there at all times due to IDIOTIC owners of a territorial large dog (about 60-90lbs), and because when I was to the turn to go to the river I saw people with a dog that looked like it was on a 6-8 foot leash and just able to do whatever it wanted, Goren is pretty good with dogs that are under control and not leaders of their pack, but when he comes to a dog that is dominant they give him signals and he REACTS and its a pain so I try to steer clear of them to stop the headache, mostly since when he reacts people start watching me correcting him like what is she doing (with stupid face as there dog about charges across the street, happened about a month ago with a yorkie)...wow I rambled lol

Yea ForestAnimal most people steer clear, there were probably 50 people walking in the blocks I went on total and only 2 stopped to talk, most turned on side streets or had dogs and I turned on a side street because they had no control (6 foot lead dog out in front peeing on everything). I walk with a 2 foot leather lead from Ella's Lead and LOVE it, I fold it over and hold it by the hook actually so I guess I walk with about a 5 inch lead haha but have the length for when I let Goren walk loose lead and sniff stuff (try to do it 1s a walk but if there are to many people or small animals he is to excited and trying to get to a squirl so has to stay in a heel) I HATE when people let there dogs crap all over, I hate when they let them mark everything in site too, its ok maybe 1 tree or 1 sign but when they are marking peoples walks, cars, and sides of buildings and such that really Ts me off, Goren does not pee or poop on walks, I gave him HUGE praises when he actually went potty at wal-mart in the grass when I was there a good 3 hours (fiance is a cart pusher and it was like 40 and raining outside the car was about 65 so perfect for him, and I actually walked him while talking to my fiance lol, great place to work on ignoring people moving around). I wish people would get a clue about the messes they leave behind, a park in the town the wal-mart my fiance works in has free bags for poop so people have no excuses but they still don't pick it up half the time.
