I've never gone back there before (have only been to that shelter once since it's 45min. from me), but I didn't really like the idea of having a 'zoo' there. The actual SPCA seems nice though, when I went anyway.. everything was nice and clean and no smell.

One of my friends volunteered there... They adopt out bulldogs to anyone, they don't have a lot of safety precautions (his own words) the dogs get loose a lot...

The pictures make it look great...

I don't know why they have a zoo, a petting zoo maybe...

Ah, I forgot the kangaroo in that dog pen. He's very friendly, but seriously, a dog pen.

I don't know, ALL of their goats look like they're pregnant with twins... They have constant access to hay, and guests can buy feed for them.

Wild animals in small, dull cages. Nope, don't like it.
Why are they doing this?

They 'rescued' the big cats. But they charge a small fee for you to go pet the goats, llama whatevers, chase the chickens, and give the wild animals something to look at.

Geez....I thought they would have done away with that by now. Two of my dogs came from that SPCA. My very first rescue as a matter of fact. She is 14 now.

Wow, how does keeping fat wild animals (not to mention the fat goat!!) in cages that aren't built for their mental/physical health scream "humane"? I can honestly say I have never seen an SPCA that houses big cats, normally they go to a rescue.

I plan on going up there to say hello to a bulldog bitch if she's still there... I might walk in the zoo and get some inside pics.

This is a slide of my SPCA.

They have a petting zoo. Okay... But they have big cats, baboons... Wild animals in small, dull cages.
Not to mention the big cats are obese.

I don't know. Doesn't seem very humane. What quality of life is that? Life in the SPCA zoo.
