Default Ear Crop Done Wrong...
I recently got my pups ears cropped, I asked the vet to give my pup a short crop with no bell and brought pics to clarify exactly what I wanted. I took the tape off last night and immediately could see that the crop was done wrong the bell is huge and the ear length is too long, it looks like the vet did a doberman crop. I know this may vary from vet to vet, but where do I go from here can I be reimbursed. Any advice will help, I found a good vet who will fix the ears for my pup but I'd like to be compensated by the vet that messed them up.

I'm not a lawyer, but unless you signed a contract that specified exact length and bell size it's your word against his. Also, he did give you a crop, and that's what you asked for. I really think you're SOL here. Sorry.

Yeah you may be right... I called the vet and they did say that sometimes they refund and sometimes they offer to fix the ears, but I dont trust that vet with my dog anymore.

Sounds like you may be best off just walking away and cutting your losses.

If the shape is wrong then it might be very difficult to sort it out no matter who does it, but if you want less length I would wait till the dog has grown into the ears properly and then take him back and have them shortened.

If it's about the money, doubtful you'll get any back. Did you have a conversation before the cropping asking the vet his policy for something as subjective as ear cropping satisfaction? Useful advice for anything you pay for in the future requiring hand and eye skill (remodeling, painting, hair styling, etc).

If it's about the look, then a tactful conversation with the same vet should get you a fix-it operation.

When Capone got his ears done, they were REALLY long and goofy looking, and I hated them. But since he's gotten bigger and his head is MUCH bigger now, his ears fit him better. Maybe thats the case with yours??

I'm sorry to hear that though

My pups looked funny to me too but it was my first crop and I had seen my vets work so I trusted her and they came out great IMO.

I'd say cut your losses... there's no way I'd let anyone do anything else to your pups ears. The crop is just for the owners pleasure as it is, and the pup could care less..... You may have not gotten what you want exactly, but I'd leave it alone and not put the dog through anymore procedures. Did he show you his previous work to give you an idea of what his final work would look like?

Here is a pic of his ears... I guess you have to click on the link to view it. That was the only way I could get it big enough for anyone to get a good look. I posted some smaller ones under Health&Nutrition the thread name is Ear Crop Gone Wrong PART 2

I think he will look fine as he gets older especially if he has a good size head and a wide jaw.

i am pissed and it is not my dog.if you told him what you wanted i would take him back only if i coud be in the roomwhen he fixes it.and if not boycott.my opinion is he did that because he did not agree with the so called fighting crop you wanted.bottom line is if you are not satisfide say so and ask him to fix it or your money back worst he could say is no.pissed off too

Yeah I'm pretty upset to but now I dont trust that vet...What if he makes it worse. Besides I kinda feel like a bad parent rushing into getting this done and really dont know if its worth putting bubba through more discomfort.
