Default So Annoyed!!!
There was an incident on a couple of pit bulls attacking a young girl last week and i was just watching the news and they decided to mention it again. I am thankful that the girl ended being fine but why bring up again 1 week later. I dont want to sound like i live in a perfect area, but the area of where it occurred is well known for irresponsible dog owners especially the pit bull breed. Its more for the look and more for backyard breeding. It just gets me pissed off!!!!

I recently bought a Pit bull magazine and they had done a temperament test on different breeds. This is part of the article:

More than 27,000 dogs have participated in the temperament test that's administered by the American Temperament Society. The 10-part test measures a dogs reactions to strangers, novel noises and sights, and unusual footing. In addition, the dogs self-protected behavior and potential to be aggressive are assessed.

Of all dogs that have taken the test, 81.5% have passed, but some breeds do worst than others. For example, among Shetland sheep dogs, who excel in canine sports directed by human handlers, only 67.3% have passed. Among Collies, who have been icons ever since lassie saved Timmy from the well and other dangerous situations, 79.2% passed. Representatives of that quintessential family dog, the Golden Retriever, managed a passed rate of 83.8%.

American Pit Bull terriers have exceeded all those scores. At the end of 2006, more than 84% of the 542 American Pit Bull terriers who took the American temperament testing society test passed the examination.

Thanks for reading.

The simple answer is: The media outlets know that the words "pit bull" get people's attention. So it probably was a slow news day & they decided to recycle a week old story because it would catch people's ear.

A while ago I read a local news story where the dog hadn't even done anything bad (I forget why it was mentioned) and wasn't the topic of the story, but they still mentioned "pit bull". I can't help but think it was because they knew that somehow that would catch someone's attention.

It's stupid.

Exactly i cant stand it! I'm just fustrated that no matter what, every pit bull is a killer dog and every other dog is an angel..They just dont get that some pit bull owners dont give a crap about them and thats why they react in certain ways but that's every dog in my eyes. If your not a responsible owner expect not to have a perfect dog. I think Chihuahuas are worse than pit bulls honestly.. lol
