Default Mr. Pancakes was attacked again
Today, my gf and i were at my brohter's house babysitting my nephew, and his dogs..One of which being tonka. I let them all out and when inside to get my cell phone before i had gone back out i heard dogsfighting..i thought for some reason it was mr.p and tonka (even though they are absolutely best buds i know it can happen) So i yell at my gf to check the dogs, and i take off running to the door, i get out there and see two dogs...the old familiar rottweiler and his buddy the lab attacking mr.p with tonka trying to kinda go against the rott to help out..i start yelling immediately before i look for a breakstick, or something like it, and the rott starts running back home. Mr. p has the lab by the neck keeping a hold while the lab is trying to follow the rott. I was so furious, (and this may be irresponsible) i just let mr.p hang on, because i was so mad at those dogs. As soon as the lab got his neck free, he took off running and mr.p was quick to chase but i called mr.p back and he listened. He had some slobber on various parts of him and one fairly deep wound on his side that i'm treating. Stupid dogs...We live in a town with out AC or local police, so no reporting to be done really. The guy's been warned by brother before, and his dogs have attacked their other neighbor's dog also..Next time mr.p might get a better hold of one of them and they may not make it back..and my brother will probably shoot them, since the rott has growled at him before.

I'm not really surprised.
You know what the situation is over at your brother's house because of a previous incident. (a little bit of a scare with Mr. Pancakes )
I wouldn't have left the dog's outside unsupervised there, not even for a second.

Were all the dogs outside running loose? Or were your dogs tethered? or fenced?

And you allowed this to happen because...?

Maybe that's too harsh. But if these dogs have been around before?

I am also curious.. is there no fence or anything?

Just one more reason why people that let their dogs run loose (Lab and the Rottie) drive me freaking nuts!! I almost hit a dog running loose yesterday on my way home... I live in the country, and I swear, I think I'm the only one that keeps my dogs either on a leash outside, or in the fenced in back yard. Irresponsible owners drive me crazy, and people letting their dogs roam the neighborhood and gang up on other dogs, cats, or whatever, gets my goat.

Even tho it happenned in your brother's "yard"...it seems like none of the dogs (all 4) in question were secure or properly supervised. Might be time to re-evaluate ya'lls supervision and protection methods with your brothers' dogs.

Next time mr.p might get a better hold of one of them and they may not make it back

Honestly, there should not be a next time

My thoughts exactly.

WTF ? Where were you xgarrettxvx while all this was happening and who was watching your dog while you weren't ?

You're your own worst enemy here, watch your dog while you have him out and this shit will not happen anymore. Until you step up and take owning your dog more responsibly this will continue to happen over and over again til it finally has a bad ending.

I just went in to get my cell phone for a second. I'm not making excuses... I'm not trying to play the victim card either, it just happened. No, my brother's property isn't fenced in. If our dog's were chained it certainly would not have helped our dogs. The dogs hadn't even gotten of the porch when i went in, and when i ran back out there, they were fighting practically leaning on the porch. I'm aware i made a mistake, but seeing as how this guy has let his dogs get loose time and time again and our dogs never leave the yard, i do think there are measures both of us should take.

You might want to (kindly) remind them of the leash laws, and let him know that if the dogs come into your yard again, a call might go out to AC. People should always make sure their dogs are secured on their property..... granted, Mollie has gotten loose and bolted a few times, but when she does, I'm close on her heals and don't give up until she's caught (which she makes extremely hard). The short of it, she never goes outside without being leashed, but she has chewed through the leash once. I now make her sit and wait for me to go out the door first. That doesn't mean she wouldn't bolt if she got the chance, but I try my best to make sure she doesn't get out that door without me.

He said they had no AC or Police to report too...

My question would be, if you just went in for the cell phone for just a few seconds and the fight happened leaning on the porch...did you not see the other two dogs when you initially let out your dogs? Those other two dogs would have almost had to have been in plain site. Maybe you just swung open the porch door and then immediately turned around to go get your cell phone?

However it happened, I hope that more care is taken for your dogs sake...and the sake of all "pit bulls"...in the future.

I don't understand if you knew your brother has an idiot neighbor who lets his dogs run loose all the time, time and time again...why didn't you make your dogs go back in with you if nobody was out there to supervise them.

Sorry Diesel.. I did read that there was no AC to report to... brain bubble on my part. What's done is done, and the best thing you can do at this point, is learn from your mistakes, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Personally, I probably wouldn't take my dogs over there again, and if I did, I would make sure they were on leashes any time they went outside, and I'd have my break stick in my back pocket. But just to avoid the hassle, I wouldn't take my dogs over there. They already know they have to be on the defensive when there because of these dogs. Just learn from it and move forward, don't dwell on what's happened, just make it a learning experience.

Those dogs could've been in the backyard when i went in or around the corner of the house. my brother's house is on like 3 acres. They must have been in a blind spot.

Personally, if I forgot something when letting my dogs out and I have to go back inside, I call them back in like they are gonna get a treat and it's the best thing ever. I don't trust my dogs or other things that could come into my yard to leave them unattended....even for a split second.

If I knew my brother had neighbors that let their dogs loose, I'd walk my dog on a leash to let it go potty or I wouldn't bring my dog over at all.

i dont think the situation would be barely any different even if he was out there, if the dogs were on the attack it prolly would have played out pretty much the same, with only one person out side and being 4 dogs. i suggest you shoot the dogs on site, next time they come in the yard.

however your title to this thread is concerning, he attacked? or did they attacked?

Agreed...rarely do dogs wait until "humans" are out of the vicinity to attack.............cats maybe...........more cunning ..........and stealth.................

I agree.

To the OP: Please, in the future, keep your dogs on a leash. You know the neighbors' dogs run free. It's up to you to ensure the safety of YOUR dogs. And carry a breakstick.

Ummmm...obviously xgarrettxvx has some work to do in terms of securing the yard...but didn't we just establish yesterday that...well...shit happens?
It's not something I am willing to 'let happen' - it is something I accept as 'not "if" but "when"'
