"my dog barked" isn't helpful.. it's the dog's body language and tone of bark that matter. |

LOL... everyone thinks their dogs are defending them when in reality most times they are probably almost peeing down their legs.
I hear it a lot with some owners who think their dog is so mean. Try telling them their dog is scared of every other dog they meet and they say nah... he just wants to fight... |

All I can say is that dogs just know! I had a similar experience. I was walking Ricky, now Ricky LOVES people, and NEVER has growled or bit anyone. So, I was walking him and this guy, a guy that I have NEVER been comfortable with, starts walking up to me, to the point I felt like I was being stalked. I kept walking, suddenly Ricky turned around and started barking and growling at the guy. He got the message and walked away.

Sounds like Ricky and you need to calm down... Only giving the breed a worse reputation, even if Ricky is an AST by breeding, he's a pit bull by everyone else's eye. That behavior is not acceptable. IF the man didn't get vicious with you guys he shouldn't react like that to a human. |

I'm sure he was defending me because it was dark and he didn't bark until the guy crossed the street and headed towards us. or it could very well be defending. True. I'll get him to calm down. Of course, everyonw else he meets, he loves. It was only that guy. |
