That's what you got out of her reply? I know people with papered dogs from champion lines who say pit. "I'm sittin here with my pit watchin a movie and drinkin some wine" That's a direct recent quote from my friend with a papered Amstaff with a Champion father and grandfather. Mom is papered too. Its a common term here regardless of bloodlines and papers.

BUSTED. LOL Will that be another restraining order?
not thats not what i got out of it, i agreed with her outlook on the word. but added my bit. maybe you took it wrong but basically what im saying is it is an abbreviation for pitbull that people throw around casually. like you said "im chillin wit my pit drinkin!", how often do most people say "im chillin with my american pitbull terrier" or "IM bout to go walk my american pitbull terrier!". now if somebody has an ambully or staffy i dont expect them to call it "my APBT" because that would be lying or simply uneducated. BUT i wouldnt see a problem for the random everyday joe that owns a "pet-bull"
saying its a "pitbull" or "pit". just a casual abbreviation, like what she said golden, rot, rottie, staffy, ect.

What about people who think Pit Bull is supposed to be one word?
I hate that.

I don't mind "pit bull" or "pitbull" even, as long as that is what it is, just something about saying you have a hole in the ground cracks me up.

Most people probably couldn't say ''Chillin with my American pit bull terrier drinkin'' once they got loaded anyways.

All kidding aside, I see the terms ''pit'' or ''pittie'' as nothing more than calling a doberman pinscher a ''dobie'' or a rottweiler a ''rottie'' or a laborador retriever a ''lab''.Most dog breeds have shorter breed related 'nicknames' and I see nothing wrong with it.
Not to mention the term 'pit bull' is not a single breed, but a collection of breeds.(unless you are counting the APBT alone) Wich honestly, the term ''pit'' or ''pittie'' makes it slightly easier, for those of us with differant 'pit bull' type breeds to be general(without the details) to referance our dogs breeds.

Well, my pittie Daisy was such a great little pit this morning at the vet. She made every one pet her little pibble self.

LMAO! Best phrase of the DAY!

I think calling them a 'pit' sounds uneducated, and gangsta-wannabe. Oh, did I mention uneducated?

To me, it's NOT the same as dobie, rottie, etc. "Pit Bull" IS the nickname, and the shortened version if you want more than that, use APBT. The only time 'pit' is okay by itself in my book, is for 'pit mix'... Don't ask me why, but that's acceptable in my book lol.

Ewwwwwwww........... it's grossing me out. Stop bumpin' this thread by commenting!

Gaud... shavin' doesn't even help because then it looks like a stinky plucked chicken. Strangely enough... I have no issue with guy armpits. Go figure.
