This is like my second post but I have to rant if you don't mind. I have 4 bull terriers and older male( Dalton) , a 7 yr old bitch (D'Arby),a 4 yr dog(Dirk) and a 4 yr old bitch(Hannah) . There are leash laws etc in Olathe KS. Any way I always obey the laws and show a lot of restraint and courtesy towards other dog owners and thier pets. . BUT I am getting pretty short on my rope. Last year a new guy moves into the culdesac and I had D'Arby out walking her, I moved out into the midlle of the street and out of this guys house comes barreling a shepard dog easy over 100 lbs running full speed right toward us. I thought to myself this is bs and gave D'Arby all the leash. This shepard comes sliding in and tryed to get close but the bitch kept it away, she was about two inches shy on latching on to this sheps throat when she ran out of leash. Fortunately the owner was screaming at it and it decided to stand off a bit. The guy apologized and asked if my dog was OK. I had Hannah in the park walking her one afternoon and this gal comes in and lets her Weinermier and jumbo Lab off leash. The Weinermier runs up behind us and starts stalking Hannah or me, anyway the owner calls it off, and then the jumbo lab comes up along side about ten feet away I stop and Hannah turns and squares up, the jumbo lab is growling at us. The owner gets it back. I had a weiner dog come after Dirk. There is another guy who works his two spaniels off leash, well he used to do it. Tonight this wild POM yeah a POM comes running around the corner full blast right at me and Hannah, Comes straight at us jumping barking lunging in and out. I walk them on a harness, anyway she is eyeballing this dumb POM real hard and trying to get at it I holding her back and trying to stay in between her and the obnoxiuos POM. THe owner come running around the corner slows down to a walk and approaches me saying she is so sorry. The POM is still jumping around in out barking while I am trying to keep Hannah off of it, so I yell at the lady to just get her dog. She bends over to pick it up and misses, the POM takes off around the corner and she runs after it . Two kids in a convertaible Miata stop in the middle of the road and watch the POM attack. I have pretty much had it. but I know if some dog ran into the jaws of death I would be the bad guy. I am really tired of the ignorance and neglegent other dog owners. Maybe I need some pepper spray not for the other dogs but the owners. There are many more instances with other dogs off leash and yes I did complain one time which I really don't like to do but I have pretty much had it with some people.

Thats probably what I will get. I normally carry a piece of pcv pipe with me but didn't have it last night. Dog bear or people repelant is next. thx

PVC is an awesome idea. I wouldn't use some repellants on a small dog, sometimes the squashy faced ones can have bad reactions and die from it...

I feel your pain... There are SEVERAL people here who walk with their DA pit bull dogs off lead, many times more than one. And a man who walks with his GSD off lead.. Not to mention all of the dogs who break their tie outs or are alone in the yard.

Bear spray is good stuff...works well on any and all creatures, two legged or four.
