Default I halfway rescued this dog, can these 2 behavioral issues be fixed?LONG story w/ pics
Ok this whole thing ties into when I thought Muggleston pits were good breeders and that lady that lives in this town. She has 26 Ambullies/some APBTs that are way overbred, she has a litter every month, but watch out, if you go to ......................now they have them on sale until the 16th of September for $850, its the puppy blowout!!!

It was odd that I received a call about this dog the other day because I have been working with the IRS against her for tax fraud (they do not work and are using the dogs as income, and here (not sure about everywhere) you have to report anything over $400) she is probably upwards to $9k+ per month or every other depending on what litters she has. Yea I check the site periodically.

So about this dog. There are these people next to my sister, I call the woman an animal hoarder because she always had a ton of dogs and always had AC there because they tied them up 24/7 barking all the time. So my sister calls, she said well Blake broke up with his wife. But he came home with a dog, can you come over and see if you will take it? It was from a drug raid (he works for the leesburg police department) but apparently he was trying to find it a home, I say sure I will come over, so a few days ago, I did. He had been there for about an hour or two barking up a storm tied outside with no food or water in a VERY populated neighborhood flooded with kids.

Now I know if I didn't know about the breed I would be pretty damn uncomfortable with a Pit Bull staring at me barking while walking with my kids, so I go over, this dog has tail in between legs, ears pinned back, no growling, but looked pretty intimidating. I go up to him, he sniffs my hand and then licks it. I say ok maybe this is a new surrounding, we play for a bit and I go home. So 2 nights ago I go back, leash time, he did PERFECT. I put him back to come home and talk to Ryan and he started whining while I walked away. I said NO, and he sat, I turn around to go and he does it again, I say NO this time he sits and tries to give paw. One last time and a NO to follow, he sits, paws, and lays, then silence.

Ryan says ok. I bring him home, he would NOT stop barking in my yard. I live in a neighborhood with all old people and I am not one to tie dogs outside, but I was going to Petsmart to go look at kennels and Ryan was outside working on his truck so I tied him out thinking he will stop. Well, while I was gone, Ryan noticed the lady in the house behind us on her deck with binoculars looking into our yard And we did not want her to call AC so Ryan took him inside. He said he had smelled every single place our dogs peed as pups and went crazy peeing all over everything including our couch

Obviously marking his territory, would having him neutered help this at all?

So I called Blake, I said Blake, its 9pm, I didn't get a kennel yet, and I cannot keep him outside because I feel its not right to let him bark all night, so I brought him back for the night. He said please take him, please come back tomorrow and get him. I told him I would think it over and call him sometime this evening. He said he is a pup so he will outgrow it. I was like how do you know how old he is? He said the papers, I said what papers? He said ohhhh I didnt tell you?

I heard the wrong story, (you know neighborhood rumors)

Apparently, there is a shitty apartment complex by Blake's police station, and some boy at 11pm one night said look, this dog is my baby, someone ratted me out for having him and the landlord said if he is not gone by midnight, I am kicked out. So Blake says he will take him and find him a home. The boy said he would be right back and then he came back and said where do you live? Blake said Martinsburg Wv why? He said ohhhhh I got my dog there, and as Blake explained that to me I was like oh crap, not from this lady. Blake said yea it says ...................as the owner.

So yea, he got a pup from this loser. I said what if she finds out? He said nothing the dog was given to you by the police dept she cannot get it back. Is this true guys?

So my questions are, can the dog be de-registered out of her name so she cannot take him back? How can I train him not to mark his territory(I've never had an older pup before) and how can I correct the barking in the yard behavior?

He listens VERY well, and after I had them both on long leashes meeting each other I let her off and tied him down and she LOVES him, I cannot believe how much energy she has, she has TOO much with new dogs, not very safe for her she likes to jump in their faces, and he was just so chill and listens SO well.

We really want to have him, my husband was walking him when I got back last night and I was like awwww

Without further ado, here are pictures.

Oh yea, and his name is Dae dae, I think thats pretty lame though lol. At least he is not like some of the nasty looking dogs she breeds, I think he is very pretty

The initial sniff, of course she lays right down, what a hooch!

He does have very nice muscle tone, very workable

He slid Destiny across the yard on her back here

Daddy's girl

Fav pic

Didn't let Tyson around him because one, he is waaaay too small, and two, he hasn't had his last shot yet, so he was inside all alone

Could his blue eyes be a result of inbreeding? Or just a genetic fault? I cannot believe how much bigger he is than Destiny, difference between an ambully and apbt for sure, although he doesn't look too bad, maybe american bulldogish? Who knows, but he is 9 months and she is 1 year tomorrow

Enjoy and thanks in advance for your opinions

Damn girl, have you ever thought about changing careers?
Maybe switching from a "minder of everybodies business" to writing for a soap opera? You could make a mint there, you specialize in having the corner on some really wierd shit happen to you....
I do not know if there is any personal horror you have not been thru...
but keep looking, there may be one or two left.

Hes a good looking boy for sure. Id be somewhat worried about possible aggression when Tyson gets older, but that can be managed with crate and rotating. Do you know what your going to do?

I was looking here for answers. I want him, I really do. If the territorial marking can be fixed, then I will not even have to worry about the barking outside. But I would like to nip both in the bud, because the reality of it is. If I cannot take him, he will have to take him to AC, and he will be put down.

Going to read those threads now Debbie, thanks!

Have you looked into any reputable Pitbull rescues in your area that could take him in besides sending him to AC?

Every other week it seems you have a problem, want another dog, or are looking to "place" another one....am i wrong here? Are ya lookin for a pat on the back, and approval? You wont get it here. In my short time here you arent ready for these dogs, so why keep getting them?

Don't know where to look for that.

Jessica at animal control said that she was called out for the dog barking at 4am about 6 days ago, and she wouldn't go near the dog because he growled at her. I am just trying to help the dog. IF he can be kept outside, and stop barking, then I could keep him out there, but I would much rather him be inside as my dogs are.

The City of Martinsburg doesn't adopt out pit bulls?

They have a list of rescues for each state. You could even try rescues in Pittsburgh as PA border isn't far from WV

Yes I did think about that, and was planning on it asap if we keep him. And martinsburg has been screwed up so bad by drug dealers getting these dogs, that unfortunately, they give them no chance anymore

I am confused, are you leaving PBF or PBC, or that other forum where everyone is nice? If nice to you, means ignoring the reality of your situations, then they are not really being nice to your dogs are they?
I guess I have to wonder why you have dogs and with your experience with them, why you think you SHOULD have dogs.... you may be one hell of a nice person, and want to do the right thing by them, the problem is that you can not figure out what the right thing for the DOGS is... and what is good for you is not good for the dogs...
I do not intend to be critical of you, it seems your heart is in the right place, it is where your head is at that concerns me.

Hmmmm...that's a shame.

Anyway...many of the localities in our area DO adopt out pit bulls...*wink wink-hint hint*

Very well put Obed. April, I guarantee you if you went to another pit bull forum I frequent you would not get a warm reception there. In fact, you think the members on this forum are harsh?

I forgot to add something....

Tyson is still a pup, and needs a lot of attention and training. I would think adding another dog into the mix would take away from that.

April, I lurk about quite a bit and dont post much at all. I agree that there are other forums whre people are 'nicer' but thats just because they tell you what you want to hear and you tell them the same. I feel you would be well advised to get really educated on what you own before you go adding to your collection.

Dont take things harshly or you will never learn.Just because people dont think the same as you does not mean you should not take into account their opinions as they could be completely valid
