I don't understand people
 

To make a long story short Sunday morning I got up to my male APBT and a black lab fighting in the ally next to my house. When i seen it i yelled at my husband and he got up and broke it up. We have Angus on a leash and in a fence. Well some how he was out in the ally but still on the leash. When we got him in the fence he was bleeding all over his face. I had to get the water hose and cool him down and clean him up. It took 20 min. I was so scared he could hardly walk. The lab on the other hand is still trying to get in the fence and was not bleeding at all. (That I could see) It took another 30 min to run him off. He had a collar on so he has a owner. I was scared to call the cops because Angus was covered in blood and the lab was not but ...... Pitt bull is all i have to say. He is doing good now. I have him leashed up were he can not get over or under the fence now. At first i was scared now i am just mad. The lab has been back 2 times this week and i have ran him off. To top it all off the lady that lives next door has a lab and she was out side today when i was outside and asked me what happened to Angus. Well i was telling her and she said i can not believe Angus did not kill the lab...... I said why would you think he would. She said well because he is a Pitt. I was pissed then. I looked at her and said My dog is just that a60 lb dog nothing more nothing less. He is not a killer. I have had Angus for 4 years and he is very very use to other dogs and people. I just looked at her and walked off. I don't know what i am madder about the lab or the neighbor. I att. a pic of him this is 4 days after.

Keep your dog confined better, especially when you are not supervising your APBT. Sorry to hear about the incident.

Next time that lab comes around, call AC and report it. IF he gets in your yard and something happens, you want a paper trail.

Take Jelet's link and get a proper chain setup going. You'll be very glad you did. Also, call AC when the lab comes around. No need to keep jeopardizing your pooch when he keeps coming back.

I would also keep in mind that if your dog can get out, the stray dog can get in if it really wants to.

Supervision is key.

Is the dog on a leash or on a tie-out/chain? There is a huge difference.

Never ever ever use a leash as a tie-out. It's not designed as such.

What is it with labs? I saw a lab attack a white pit one day for no reason. A lab attacked my husband when he was a child and almost ripped his arm off. But the pitties are the dangerous ones. Yeah, right. I'll take any of APBTs over my brother's stupid labs playing with my son any day.

Labs are overbred and obscenely popular just like "pit bulls". And popularity comes with a very heft price tag.

An insurance agent that stopped by to see the dogs at an adoption clinic told me that his company won't insure pit bulls but in reality labs bite far more often than pit bulls.

The Lab should get reported IT had to be the lab because we all know that some Labs are vicsous aganist children and a normal Pitbull wouldn't instaly start up a fight like that all can say is report and bring the best out

It do sem liek Labs are starting to become growingly agressieve and assertive same with the Golden retriever first this was americas top breed now its a child preadator I seen alab tring to go at this brindle pitbull while the owner was walking him because it seemed like the Lab was heading for the owner but then started growling and snarling at the dog and Im super glad the Pitbull was the mature one

Say that again same with golden retrievers and all those hunting dogs like Flat coated retrievers I don't mind the Curly Coated retriever nothing wrong with them same with the Spaniels espeically the Cockers sometimes the become a lil bit dog agressieve

There are a lot of breeds that don't get along with children.

I don't know what kind of "normal" pit bulls you've met, but I know several that will grab a dog that gets close enough... it's called being dog aggressive.

But there needs to be some type of leash and chain setup

Ahahaah I know that I hvae met some Pitbulls that won't be as dog agressieves well bruno and cassie are extremly dog agressieve indeed though and I know its called being dog agressieve

We are moving out in the country and I have already started building a super kennel. Nothing will get him and he will not get to anything. I have lived in this neighborhood for 15 yrs and had pits for 5 yrs and before that i had mastiffs for yrs and i have never had any prob. That just goes to show YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN .

This is the main reason I freaking LOVE being in the country... however, I did install a $3000.00 fence for my dogs to prevent them from getting hit by a car when they have to go out for potty breaks. I also have 2 Labs, and one of them tries to attack Mollie every time he sees her, therefore, they are never allowed around each other.

Also, in the insurance issue, it depends on what state you are in and what insurance companies you are dealing with. State Farm usually doesn't discriminate based on the breed, however, you may have to go to several agents before you find one that will not deny you. I guess it's pretty much up to the agent, but the company in general, doesn't have breed restrictions. If one tells you no however, just call another one. If your dog is APBT it definetely isnt your run of the mill ''60 lb dog nothing more nothing less'' You should be aware that it is in the breed's genetics to be dog aggressive. If you cant decide who you are more mad at between the neighbor and the lab... maybe you should be somewhat mad at yourself for not considering the fact that it didn't dawn on you that you share some of the responsibility for the fiasco as well for not having your dog confined and supervised properly. Your dog can get along well with other dogs untill one day when a dog with the wrong attitude, temperment, or energy crosses him and shit really hits the fan.
