Default Question?
My pit-bull Nikki is a pure bred dog but she doesnt look pure bred her fur is really long for a pittie and she isnt as muscular as most pit-bulls i see.
Does any one know why this may be?
Heres a couple pictures.

Lol i dont think she was too happy in this one.Shes giving me the evil eye.

From my parents friends.
They decided to breed there two pitties
And at the time we were looking for a dog.
My moms friend thinks shes a cross between an Amstaff and a Pit-Bull but i know you cant really tell without papers.
Too me it doesnt matter what she is because shes my baby im just curious.

It's very possible that your parents' friends' dogs are not purebred themselves thus the reason why you might be seeing the longer fur, etc.

As for being muscular, while it's genetics for many dogs, others have to work at it just like humans have to work at it. It takes exercise and conditioning and proper nutrition.

She might not even be pit bull at all for all anyone knows. There is so many mix breed dogs in the world who can look like pit bulls...but they are not. Such as pointer mixes etc

Beautiful anyways. Could be a pit bull mix? Who knows. I wouldnt worry about it Id just love her for who she is

Unless the parents were registered dogs whose lineage was carefully tracked, you'll never know if they or your dog are purebred.

But it's the qualities of the dog that matters... if she's a good dog, that's all you need!

I woulda thought she was pure bred by looking at her. Ever see Fastlane-bred game dogs? There is A LOT of variety there, including thick tails, longer fur, etc... as well as the normal fur and tail. When these dogs were being created across the pond 200 yrs. ago, some of the longer, feathery-furred terriers were also probrably thrown into the mix with the bulldogs at the time in some regions, not just exclusively Manchester Terriers and the Black and Tans. The Dogmen wanted gameness and winners, not pretty dogs so I think that's why we see a longer-furred pup thrown from time to time.

Ditto from me!

can any 1 tell me at whatage does a pitbull stop growing mine is 2yrs and still going Most are done growing in height by a yr and then fill out and mature until 2-3 depending on the genetics behind them, nutrition, exercise and overall health. There is no set in stone age ....

Mollie was grown by 2 yrs old, but was still filling out till she hit about 3-4, and now, she's losing some weight, so now she's shrinking again.
