Default Do u think it is a good idea to mix a pit and a rottweiler
my uncle has a rottweiler and i let them play together all the time but then it turns out he keeps trying 2 hump her so it turns into this big game cuz she refuse 2 let him hump her and he cries like a baby cuz she runs and they chase each other for hours but the point is my uncle wants 2 breed them together and make sum pups but i told him i dont know and he is a very good owner and his family grew up raising rottweilers for 30years and just wanted sum input about the situation and has any1 had experince wit this mix of dogs and wat 2 expect as far as temperment if i was to agree wit it but i doubt it.(sorry i text on the phone alot)

Bad idea, spay and nueter. There would be no point in letting them breed, spay and nueter. One is more of a guardian breed, Pit bulls are not, so if they breed and a pup bites someone because of stupid breeding the APBT will be blamed and leave another black eye on a breed that is already under eenough scrutiny. Please don't. They would be mutts, the world has enough as it is

It's estimated 3-4 million cats and dogs are EUTHANIZED each year in the united states...that's not globally. 1 Million of those are pit bulls....please spay/neuter your dogs.

Nope. They will just be mutts. There are enough mixed breeds out there. Why breed more on purpose? That mix will attract the wrong kind of owners as well. Hate to say that, but it's true.

I agree with Turner and every other response to your post.

Plus, you would be 'blending' two completely different types of dogs, the Rottweiler (guard) and the APBT (Terrier and not even qualified for watch dog duty).

Once you do this, the outcome can be rather unpredictable

An APBT generally loves all people.

A Rotty usually loves its family but not strangers.

So mixing a non HA dog and a HA dog especially when asking this type of question will most likely give you crappy puppies..

Do not breed them. Especially when asking this question. If your asking a forum about breeding, especially these 2 different breeds. You shouldnt be breeding in the first place. Leave the breeding to the pro's

Please, for the sake of all responsible owners out there, spay and neuter both doys quickly. Contact PBRC to see if they can find someone that does discounted rates. However, do not breed these two dogs, or any others.. you only end up with a bunch of cute pups that grow up and no one wants to take the time, care and expense, to raise them correctly, so they end up in shelters and get euthed. Please, just say no and mean it, back it up with an appointment to spay your dog asap.

i will get her spade but i want to wait 6 more months cuz she would be 1 year old b4 i get her spade and i watch her closely when she is playing with him so no unwanted pups will happen cuz i think i read if u do it 2 early it would effect there growth but u can correct me if im wrong but since i have known my uncle he has always had a rott and he never gets him neuter but he never breeds him either and he is a very stubborn know it all so i doubt he will listen 2 me. but is rott is very well behaved never ever barks at strangers or dogs and he is not leashed train and he is about 3yo and he just listens well outside and inside

Make sure the two aren't together AT ALL when she is in heat. Mating can happen quicker than you know and it is dangerous to pull the male off the female.

you get the greatest reduction in the chances of mammary cancer if you spay her BEFORE her first heat. will also save you a mess in the house, male dogs hanging around the house and a possible accidental litter.

i would spay her at 6 months.

AGREED! The benefits of spaying at six months outweigh the benefits of waiting til they are a year old. My female was spayed at a 2 years old (2 months after I got her) and it was so much harder on her than any dog I've seen spayed at 6 months!
