Default Look at what you all did to me........
I used to browse kennel websites for hours looking for dogs. This has been about 6 years or so by now....I used to be in awe about most of the dogs I saw....but after reading these posts and talking with some of you guys and gals, I realized that most of what I was looking at was BULL$HIT! Some I like, some I don't. But now even more than ever, do I realize what's correct in the dogs. I personally like the larger yet agile pit-bull, the low-riders are cool if they are portioned correctly....If your dog has a freakishly large head and barley can hold it up or its body is so large that it can't even make a jog around the block ONCE, YOU ARE TRIPPIN! I don't want a dog that's gonna fall out in the middle of tryin to stop an intruder from coming in my home if thats the case and yes I know that somone is gonna say they are not bred for protection but it was just an analogy. But at the end of the day, if you are happy with what you have and you love it and care for it properly, then so be it. I'm not one to judge, just stating my thoughts......

and I'm not big on rescue dogs either
Although my opinions on rescue and it's affect on the breed have changed after being involved in it for many years, there are TONS of AMAZING rescue dogs out there. Some of the ones I've had come through my house over the years, let's just say I'd be proud to call one of my own. Alot of wicked dogs just wind up with the shitty end of the owner stick, ya know.

That is a bit of work! it's mainly seeing the correct conformations and understanding whats correct and whats not, learning, the true history, where they came from which explains why there are different types of bullies.

That is a BIG ONE. I don't know why it is so hard for some to "let themselves" understand the history and differences.

I have been very lucky, I have been very good friends with an UKC Judge for about 8 to 10 yrs (and she has owned APBT's for 30 yrs or so), I have met a lot of her UKC Judge friends through the yrs, & a very good friend of her's is a ADBA Judge. It is so much fun just sitting & talking dog's. I have found through the yrs that each judge sees each dog differantley. So if you do ever start showing, just remember it is only that judges opinion that day & that show. Don't ever get discouraged, & remember some times it's the handler (you) that might make your dog look bad or maybe you or your dog is having a bad day. It happens, been there, done that.

Glad that you are widening your thinking... lol.

On rescue, well, I just rescued a pup from a place in Mississippi, and so far, she's awesome! Naturally, unless you have a breeder you can trust, and papers to back everything up, you never truly know what you are getting, and it's a crap shoot as to whether it will turn out to be the best dog ever, or not. It's like everyday you get in your car and start the ignition, you may have a wreck and you may not.... there's no guarentees in life, except death and taxes.

Even though I have a rescue, well, 5 rescues since I became an adult, and a total of 4 of those are still alive, they have all been some of the best dogs I've ever had..... well, maybe except for Zoe, and she's just plain ADHD, but other than that, they've all been great dogs. It may not be for you, but don't close the door completely... maybe just push it to a little, but don't close it completely..... you never know what tomorrow may bring.

I've always been open minded on most things. I usually try to see it from both sides of the fence and go with what I feel is right for me. But anyway, the rescue thing is cool, I understand the concept but I don't see me going, not to say that it can't happen for the fact that u never know what tommorow brings. But what I wanna do I can't do wit a rescue or whatever.

The nice thing with the UKC you can register your spayed/nuetered dog/rescue with them and get weight pull titles & get titles in the other working events too. I really wish more people would do this with their dogs/rescues. They just can't show in conformation. APBT's or mix breeds you can get a Limited registation.

Las Vegas Yeah, it's tough to find weight pull in this area.
