OK...the candle light vigil for the Ed Faron Pit Bulldogs has been changed one more time from Tuesday to Wednesday March 4, 2009 of next week.
There will be 4 TV networks present. I will be speaking about my experience in taking care of the Wilks County Wildside kennel dogs and what great dogs they were. This has been one of the saddest times I have ever felt. Even though I only knew the dogs for two months, I fell in love with them and I just can't stop being torn up about them being killed. Where: Bicentennial Mall. at 16 W. Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601 |

This memorial is for the dogs. Period.
I'm, not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers when I say the following. Again, this is a memorial for the dogs. It's a way for the people who are greiving can maybe get some sort of closure. There have to be one or two people who worked on the euthanisia team who are having sleepless nights. This tribute could help ease their mind. It's an organized memorial service, all they ask is that you light a candle. Step outside your self absorbed self and look around, there's no harm in remembering, memoralizing or making a tribute to these dogs who died needlessly. All of the actions people are taking, down to the simple letter writer are being noticed. The HSUS claims they are making changes to their policies. It's a memorial service, it should touch your heart, maybe even bring a tear to your eye, in remembrance of all the lives lost. It's a time to just be respectful of what other people need to do to move on. All they want you to do is light a candle.... |

I disagree... I don't think this is about the dogs one bit. It might be for those of us that would attend, that actually cared about the dogs. But in the end it is just a publicity stunt for Best Friends... which I am sure will be fund raising and handing out pamphlets at the vigil.
As for the one or two people that are having sleepless nights who worked on the MURDER SQUAD...I refuse to call it a "euthanasia team" they murdered those dogs... as for them.. Good I hope the vision of those puppies haunt them for a long long time. But I doubt it will.. anyone that can murder someone's dogs hell 8 week old puppies... that is a special kind of sick person. They deserve to have the sleepless nights I hope for more misery for them. As for those of us that are not attending for various reasons... I don't see it as being self absorbed... I see it as not wanting to contribute to a publicity stunt for a organization that I disagree with. Just like when the ACLU and those folks hold candle vigils against the death penalty... it is a publicity stunt. They want donations so they can "keep up the good fight" Sorry if that makes me self absorbed or anything else.. I guess I am just a dick. This memorial is for the dogs. Period. |

To be completely honest... I don't think it bothered them as much as they want people to think it did. I think sure killing something is never fun...but I don't believe those people have any love for the APBT. Especially the ones that are kept on chains... on a yard of an old dogman... I do not believe they'll lose a wink of sleep putting down gamebred dogs at all. Not one wink.
With all due respect, NC, don't you think the people who euthanized these dogs were doing it becasue of a court order, not because they wanted to? |

Sorry if that makes me self absorbed or anything else.. I guess I am just a dick. No argument from me on that one.
![]() ![]() I've spent quite a bit of time drafting a response but keep deleting because I realize its completely pointless and a waste of air and I would most likely just be picking a fight. ![]() So, all I will say is that the vigil is about the dogs. Its about how we make changes in how these dogs are treated. It is the right of citizens to make a statement through this vigil that change must come. More power to them and I hope it is effective. ![]() |

Phantom, thank you for the vigil, I can not thank you enough for being a kind hand, and extra bedding for my boy Vader, in his time of need, as well as providing Dracula with a better crate so he could be more comfortable in his last days too, you are a blessing. I would also like to tell you I appreciate the kind words you spoke to Ed last night, he needed it, and I will forever treasure the tears and hugs we shared. I am honored to have had the pleasure to meet you. Your song touched me, none could have been more appropriate. Please keep in touch, I will give you all the pictures I have of the Wildside dogs in their happiness on the mountain, as well as their names, you and them deserve that. You're a great woman, and keep fighting for our breed, they need our help. Nobody and nothing loves harder than an American Pit Bull Terrier.
Friends for life, The Aloha girls ![]() R.I.P Vader, I love you boy! |
