Default Poor Mazzi...
She was spayed today and she hasn't stopped crying since I picked her up. She won't eat, wont drink...I feel so bad. The vet says that she could remain this way for the next couple of days. I'm a mess having to listen to her. Poor baby.

That stinks.

Tess just acted like she was dead the rest of that day, and by the next day, she was herself, again.

Poor pumpkin. She'll be ok in a day or two. I don't know if you've ever had major abdominal surgery, but it's not what I would call a good time! But don't worry...she'll heal and be better off for it.

Fortunately, they heal faster than we do. I've had it a couple times myself, and while I couldn't even stand all the way up for a week, most dogs are feeling pretty good by the second day. By day 3 or 4, you'll be trying to figure out how to keep her still
Good, healing vibes coming her way!

Mine was sprayed a month ago, and I felt awfull too! To see her so miserable made me feel very very sad. But the vet told me she would not be in pain but will cry and behave like she is in pain due to the narcotics.

Then again, this might be the case because she had a 'laparoscopie' treatment and maybe therefore she was not in pain.

The next day she was up and running.

So I hope you will have the same experience. Meanwhile hang on in there a big hugs

Mazzi is doing much better today, but she won't eat and is only drinking a little. Getting her pills down was diffecult. She's moving around some too.

Thanks everyone, for all the hugs! : )

Do you have any plain yogurt? Maybe try to give her a pill hidden inside some cheese or a little canned food. I have also hidden pills inside hot dog pieces, peanut butter, chicken, some tuna.... I'm pretty good at hiding pills. The trick is, you have to have another piece waiting for them, so they basically just swallow the piece you gave them, so they can get the next piece. I make a big deal out of it with Mollie, get her all excited about the first piece...without the pill, let her eat that, then slip the pill in the next bite, give her that and have the third piece already waiting for them and show it to them as soon as they get the "baited" piece. The yogurt would be good for her and would kinda put a little liquid in her system. Keep us updated.

I had Mollie spayed at 6 months, and I think I took her in, and then picked her up the next day after work. I don't remember her whining any, but I do remember she slept a lot when she got home.

Thanks, Nana. Normally getting her to take pills is not an issue. She takes a bunch of pills daily. Normally I do use yogurt. I tried that today, but she refused it. She finally accepted some peanut butter. She's not wanting to eat anything at the moment and she is normally the chow hound.

I'm happy to hear Mazzi is feeling a little better, she'll eat when she's ready. I remember I had to have surgery a couple of times and I didn't feel like eating for a few days afterwards, so it might be the same for dogs.
