Default Had a weird occurence happen, thought i would share
So I came home from work last week during chow time to play with the boys cause I had been working a lot of hours lately and havent had the time during the evening.. As I open the door I am greeted by Duke (which is weird occurence number 1) Duke is in a dog kennel all day while we are at work. I call my wife and asked if she let him out before she went to work and she hadnt. So I chocked it up to me being scatter brained from getting 4 hours of sleep.

Weird occurence number 2, I do the same thing the next day come home at chow and Capone is out of his kennel. Now I know I absolutely know that there is no way I left Capone out. So I call the police they take a report for B&E the officer tells me that lately there have been a bunch of B&Es in the area where people are takin pitts out of houses.

Weird Occurence number 3, I got served with 3 court summons for people that have not ever lived in this house this week.. All of which were active court cases that started after i moved in.

So long story short, I had housing change all my locks and my dogs have padlocks on their kennels now.

sorry so long had to vent

That is super weird. Good thinking about changing the locks and adding the locks to the kennels.

Weeeeird! Glad you came home and your dogs were still there though!

It's also a good thing they didn't let them loose together!

Spoke with the Sheriff of our county. The summons are something to do with child services that has nothing to do with us. I live in Privatized military housing and the summons are for a family that has never been in the military or dod contractors... So basically someone more than likely knew somebody that lived here before and used their address because they know they moved...

Spoke with the sheriff about the B&E with the dogs being messed with. They have had several reports in the area (12+ reports) of people coming home and finding their pitbulls dead in their back yard. 2 pitbulls in my complex have been stabbed in their own yard.

The polices plan of action to combat this... 1 extra patrol through the area per shift..
housings plan of action... A security company that 1 man watches 4 housing developments all with in 20 mile radius...

That is absolutly insane and scary! I used to live in Norfolk. I used to get so fed up with all the crime in that area.

Maybe you should think about hooking up your own camera system, in clear view so if these asswipes want to try and get your dogs, they will see the cameras first and possibly think twice.

I'm glad everything turned out ok. I had the same thing happen but with tragic results. I didn't even think about B&E until a few days later when I got a notice from animal control and CPS. I can't even begin to describe the horror of coming home to 4 dogs loose in my house.

Good thinking with the pad locks on the kennels. I have one on one kennel, but that was to keep him in, not people out. It's truly scary what some people will stoop to.

Maybe you could set up a camera on the kennels with a live feed you could view from work or something...

Wow, that is beyond freaky!!

I agree with Michele, Alaska, and Diesel.... get a live feed or some kind of camera system and post warning that your premises are under surveillance, but be sure to make the cameras hidden so as someone couldn't find them and cover them. Hidden inside an A/C vent, inside a plant, hidden between books on a bookshelf. If they are in plain sight, it would be easy to dismantle them or cover the lens. Keep us updated... I'm so freaking glad your dogs are OK.
