Those puppies are all just different shades of blue brindle, some with white markings.

'There is no such thing as trindle, double and triple brindle...

Tri-color in dogs generally refers to the tan point pattern (think Doberman) with white markings.

A brindle dog is called by the background color first, then the "brindle". A dog with a fawn background with the black brindling is "fawn brindle". The same for a red dog with black striping is "red brindle". The striping may be very heavy, in which case you may just see a little of the fawn or red and the dog appears mostly black. But the dog is stilll just "fawn brindle", not double or triple brindle. A dog that is mostly fawn with LIGHT brindling is still "fawn brindle".

Im wanting to learn about the "right" color terms and what they mean......

Double Brindle

Tri Color
Triple Brindle........

its all confusing cuz I dont know what color my dogs are at this piont!!

There is no such thing as double brindle, trindle, tribrindle or triple brindle.

Brindle, in reference to American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers, is most often thought to be a mixing of brown and black (or black and brown). However, brindle is simply a mixing of colors (other than merle, which are not technically mixing anyway), which are not profoundly separate of each other. Therefore, there is really no such thing as blue brindle, red brindle, green brindle or pink brindle... it's all simply "brindle," in technical, non-sales terms.

A tri-color dog has three distinct and separate color patterns. A brindle dog (of any type) with white or any other color, is not considered a tri-colored dog.

Merle is a blueish-grey or grey color spotted or blotched with black. The color merle is considered a fault in all pit bull breeds of dog because they are not naturally this color. All merle colored "pit bull" type dogs have been genetically altered due to a different breed of dog in their ancestory.

There is a brindle point. Which is like tan-point, only with brindle instead of tan. Think Rottweiler markings, only with brindle where the tan would be. Some people affectionately call it "trindle," but that's not a technical term.

Now I agree, this doesn't really touch on why you're breeding puppies when you still have relatively newbie questions. That's a bit concerning.

I have heard of trindle, while I don't believe it's a true term, but a slang word. Some people refer to dogs that are tri-colored with some brindle as trindle.

I think brindle is brindle. When we got Peanut people told us he is tiger striped since hes not the "tradional brindle" but really as far as i am concerned hes just brindle. I had to do a little more research on his "technical" color markings for his homeagain web page so if he is ever lost people can identify him but other then that i dont think naming the color is important unless the puppies are going into the show ring.

I thought Brindle was a pattern, not a color. That's why there can be different colors of brindle (Black, brown, blue, fawn, red, etc.)
