wow harsh responses it did not sound like that person was asking if THEIR dog was old enough to breed or even if they were going to breed any dogs at all it sounded more like a general information innocent question and you seemed to have attacked them from your high horse. I understand you have the breeds intrest in mind but the way you responded just seemed mean maybe your response could have been re worded to actually answer the question without sounding so condensending. All I am saying is be nicer to people and if you are worried they are trying to breed an "inferior dog" in your mind find that out first.
I am not trying to start an arguement or debate just sometimes dont jump to conclusions of someone elses questions they may be trying to actually learn something they may not be aware of.

how old does a male dog have to be to inpregnate another?
Hey there, lyltawnie. I'm curious...has your dog been named in a pregnancy law suit? just kidding...

I think gonloco gave the right answer...and Belladonna kennels said it too in a more clinical way...tee hee....when his nuts drop. At least that's what I've always been told. However, a lot of times it does take a bit of experience and maturity even after that...practice, practice, practice.

I'm not an expert...that's just the way it has always happened with my dogs and friends' dogs when they try to breed.

Old enough to be fully matured. Old enough to be tested for any possible genetic issues. Old enough to have proven himself one of the best-of-the-best examples of his breed ("pit bull" is not a breed). Old enough to know of all his weaknesses and all his strengths. Old enough to have found the perfect suitable mate that whose breeding will help to decrease the weaknesses and improve upon the strengths.

And this only applies to dogs whose pedigrees are known and documented.

All others should be neutered asap.

First off IMPREGNATE! Miakoda Perfect post! UNLESS this dog is Titled and worth breeding because of pedigree & Titles combined (Dogs been in the show ring)...On top of the right personality for the breed, STABLE. The dog should be neutered! If you have to ask such a nieve quesion about dogs you have no room to breed...So get whatever dogs your asking about fixed.

Just to play devil's advocate the OP says nothing about breeding, but asking a general question about what age a dog could technically reproduce.
However, I do agree with the above! If you are considering breeding and you have to ask that question I seriously think you need to get your dog neutered asap! Sorry, I don't know the actual answer but I would assume as long as the testes have dropped he could reproduce. Working under the assumption you're not intending to breed and you simply want to know the answer to a question I'd recommend you ask your vet.

A male dog can not impregnate another male dog.

(sorry, couldn't resist!)
