Default Pitbulls and Parolees Ques
On the show she said that Blue Pits seem to be more aggressive than he others b/c of breeding. I was just wondering if anyone noticed that is true?

Blue is a popular color with BYB's, who will breed dogs with the worst temperaments to make a quick buck... so I wouldn't be surprised if more blue dogs had temp. problems.

I LOVE the concept of what she is doing. Unfortunately all she does is bitch about money. Seems like a huge publicity stunt to me.

Plus, they're all a bunch of crack heads.

honestly, i do not care for that "rescue" at all. before we got a dog we contacted them to come look. they would not allow us to come look at a dog because we are a military family they said they do not place in military homes because they are "not stable", well we ended up going to a breeder and we got Peanut. well we seen them at a pet expo they brought some of the worst examples of the breed and the people that were at the booth when people stopped to ask questions about the breed they were actually giving myths as answers. now this was not her so i can't vouch for her not knowing about the breed but the representative they had in the booth did not reflect very well on their "rescue". recently we watched 1 episode of the show and it was aweful i feel bad that people will see that and think those are what pitbull owners are like. i really hope it gets pulled from tv it is an abomination for the breed and the real owners.
i wouldn't put much stock in what a tv show says just do your own research bottom line.

Wait Boogie, are you saying that "blue Pits" tend to be more HA???

If so, I had NO idea. But I thought, as a breed in whole, HA was a against the breed standard.

The reason he says this is because the blue am bullies tend to be bred no matter the temperment by anyone and everyone just to make a dollar it just boils to bad breeding practices

Bad Breeding begets Bad Dogs...health and/or temperament.

It is not the color of nose, it is the color of money that damages this breed.

I still think you have to look at it on a dog by dog basis or there will be CSL (Color Specific Legislation) which is just as inane as BSL.

Bullshit. It's just a backlash because they are popular right now. So she would see more of them, and on average they would be less socialized.

People used to say that brindle coats were meaner. I've also heard people say it about dogs with red coats. All bullshit.

Yeah.......HUMAN AGGRESSIVE! One of the very few things the fucking show has ever gotten right. LOL

I actually sent them an email stating they wouldn't know an APBT if it was in front of them. It pisses me off they are calling those dogs pit bulls when they are clearly mixes and am bully's.

I watched her try to help with a HA dog and I sat there speechless. Nearly everything she said and did was wrong. Or at least not the way Ive been trained to deal with dogs like that.

If they tried to expalin all the different breeds that come under the moniker "pitbulls", the show would have gone nowhere. They are using the public perception of "pitbulls" and talking it from there. To do anything else would just confuse most of the general public. I guarantee I would rather Diesel be there than at Caesars Compound. At least they understand that bulldogs and DA go hand in hand...and they do not adopt out HA dogs.

As for the money "pandering" as some call it...you could send money to HSUS and the like and it would do "NO GOOD" for this breed (meaning pitbulls in general). It takes huge resources to house and feed up to 200 dogs...so I wish them the best. I don't expect perfection but I do appreciate dedication.

I'd say it's more likely for blue dogs to display temperment issues due to bad breeding. That's one thing the show has right. It's only natural when color is the number one goal of a breeder.

And, this is what makes the show irresponsible.

It may be 'more likely' but by such a small percentage (i.e. from 0.01% to 0.015%) as to be meaningless compared to all the other factors that go into determining temperament.

There's no factor greater than genes at determining temperament. All the training in the world won't help a dog that never had a chance to begin with. It's no coincidence that a large number of poorly bred mutts she sees of this "breed" are blue. The fact that we all see so many blue "pit bulls" should be cause for alarm as the color should be rare. This fact alone tells you that the majority of those dogs are bred for one thing, color.
