Default USA Presidential Candidates Speak Out on Questions of Science
"ScienceDebate.org invited thousands of scientists, engineers and concerned citizens to submit what they felt were the the most important science questions facing the nation that the candidates for president should be debating on the campaign trail.

ScienceDebate then worked with the leading US science and engineering organizations... to refine the questions and arrive at a universal consensus on what the most important science policy questions facing the United States are in 2012.
Candidates readily debate jobs and the economy even though they are not economists; they debate foreign policy and military intervention even though they are not diplomats or generals; they debate faith and values even though they are not priests or pastors. We call on the candidates for President to also debate these Top American Science Questions that affect all voters' lives."

Lots of electioneering, but I'm heartened that neither Obama or Romney completely embarrass themselves. Of course, there's little clue given to how much of what's presented is their own opinion.

I post this here for those who might be interested in what the next few years could hold in the US scientific arena, according to those in the running for President.

And specially for BC, yes - they do discuss space exploration and utilization.

I think we may have a fallen comrade there. I noticed the red card is out. Must have been a dusk raid. One minute he was there, but the next.........I reckon we send someone out to look for him :-((

Hmmm....

It's certainly an unusual mindset to even consider strapping your pet to the roof of the car for a journey, never mind actually doing it. However I can believe from experience that the dog was not necessarily traumatized by it. Both of my dogs adore riding in the back of the ute, and one regularly puts her front paws up on the roof to peer over the top whilst we travel at speed. A few times she has even tried to climb up on to the roof and would probably have succeeded if she was not restrained by a leash.

According to the story originally reported the dog displayed symptoms of being not a happy camper, considering the extended period it was kept on the roof. It certainly wasn't well formed stools that were dripping down the window. However....even after all that, what strikes me as strange is that he stopped at a service station (sorry gas station) calmly and apparently impassively hosed the dog down and the car then returned the dog to the cage above the car and proceeded on the journey. I believe in the original story I read (a year or so ago) the dogs leaking continued. :-((
