if it did work with a range, would you find that the image returned to a single image at a particular distance?
sorry, should have said, would you find the interference pattern canceling out once the effect of the double slit obstruction's field had been left behind?

I mean, wouldn't the range this effect could be observed to be something like the amplitude of the slit/s divided by the frequency of the photon,,, or something like that??
The interference pattern is the result in the phase difference in the waveform coming from each slit. The phase difference is due to the difference in distance (relative to the wavelength of the waveform) between the particular slit and the point on the screen where the photon strikes.

If one wishes to remain entirely in the wave description, then the double-slit experiment is adequately described by the classical Young's double-slit experiment. If one wishes to consider the particle description, then one must invoke the quantum mechanical Born rule.

LOL. I'm not sure I would have understood the Born Rule if I wasn't referring to it from Young's experiment. Way too much math.
