Weird pulsars debut at Beijing astronomy meeting
Newfound oddities challenge researchers’ imaginations

BEIJING — A cast of exotic, and sometimes mysterious, astrophysical objects quietly took center stage during the first session of the pulsar symposium at the International Astronomical Union’s General Assembly meeting on August 20.

Presenters cautiously discussed several new — indeed, some very new — discoveries, including a millisecond pulsar parked in the heart of a triple system, another “planet”-pulsar pair similar to the (erroneously named) diamond planet, and a very distant, mysterious burst resembling the controversial Lorimer burst of 2007.

Excellent. The first ever couple of exoplanets were pulsar planets but then discoveries totally dried up. Some other planets since have also been found using "timing" but not pulsar timing, weird.

News just in; "A cast of exotic, and sometimes mysterious, astrophysical objects quietly took center stage during the first session of the pulsar symposium at the International Astronomical Union’s General Assembly meeting on August 20."

"The meeting was quickly abandoned as the population within 50 km of the Conference site were scorched to dust by the energy output of the Pulsars on stage" Officials are hunting down the Heads of the Labs who sent their colleagues with these highly energy outputting astronomical objects to the Conference without prior approval of their local Ethics committees."

"This has been Gaz Ingatstars for the local Science News Network"

Apologies, I have worked too long over the last couple of days and this just came into my head. Of course it is REPORTING of Pulsars, but when your OP stated the pulsars were there, I just thought this amusing.

I can't imagine pulsars doing anything quietly
