I'd really like to have only links to youtube, not having the video embedded. They become irritating very quickly. The embedded video also affects scrolling with a wheel mouse.

1. I do not need to log in to do "Community.Community List" and the view basic info on members.
I think one should be required to log in to do this. Especially considering the vandals that have been hanging about SSSF.

2. Ditto on voting in a Poll. Not so important, but it leaves scope for nuisances. Rechecked: not correct.

But overall it looks good. Thank you.

Not mine, but I changed my profile privacy settings to restrict everything to registered members. Should be defaulted to be that perhaps.

I'm not sure I like the idea of the name of the thread appearing in the address bar and thus in history lists. I much preferred the anonymity of the post/thread number, especially when reading/posting from work...

Do we have a set of rules yet?

Specifically, multiple handles. We generally used them on the old forum as a bit of fun, even though we knew it was technically against the rules. I'd like to do the same thing here, but worried there might be smiting involved. Will this sort of thing be tolerated in small doses, or will offenders be crushed like bugs?

When I signed on the dotted line at the old place it came with three "handles". I know they changed the way it worked since then but I still retained those original three handles...

Please add the 'live view' option to this vbulletin board.

It shows the posts as they happen in real-time and so is much like the View By Time option in the old forums.
What he said.. Also... it doesn't appear as if my profile pic is showing ... ? i have uploaded something and it looked to have worked.

And I don't like the fact the avatar is left aligned under a name that isn't. It's bad feng shui.

Hmm. Tried to fix this but not sure it's possible. Will keep looking.

?
The user's name is aligned to the left of the frame, as is the image under it.

The new theme reset a lot of settings unfortunately. I'll try and put all the privacy fences back up asap. Sorry.

I wasn't complaining, I was just pointing out that if the rule was for one "handle" apiece then it seemed strange that they were handing out multiple handles per account...

Anyway, two quick questions: Why is my post count going backwards? Also, as pictured in the above post, how does one edit the label that appears under user name? I thought it was post count related but it appears that some people have headings unrelated to post count...

It does accrue and change with post count automatically but admin and perhaps mods are allowed to set their own.

I don't even know who you have to wangle to get special priviliges. I'm so outta the loop. I probably don't even know what wangling is in order. Can I iron some red capes or somethin?

Looks like some people have already wangled secret special priveleges. Maybe some did, but it is all up to ABCNick. All I did was register J.F. with the same email account I had used at the ABC for the old SSSF, and started posting. There was some emailing about making me a moderator here, but I asked for clarification about powers and duties first. I often spend a lot of my time elsewhere on the 'net, these days, so I am not sure if I should be a mod, and I worry a bit that my well known Christian faith might lead to issues or complaints, depending on who joins up here. I might just contribute mostly to the scientific quota here, rather than rulekeeping.

I started with the description "junior member". After a day or so, I noticed that changed to "Biology", which was my speciality in the old SSSF.

I noticed early on that jj was labelled "Stalwart".

This forum is a work in progress, so I am not worried by these matters at this stage.
