The names are included in the chat threads as quite a few people over several weeks were all saying the same thing about confusion between the different forum chats.

The current month doesn't really need to be included in the title though it is included, along with the year, in the archived chat threads. *points* Including the month does serve as a reminder, I guess, that a new chat thread needs starting.

Oh, I didn't realise the chat threads were getting mixed up. I am using the hyperforums and have different colours.

Looking forward to Randling tonight, Andrew Dentons new show. ABC1 8.30pm.

yes, familiarity really does breed contempt

For some time there has been a young fox lurking around the Homestead ... it has become more bold , until this morning I found my favourite beanie (which I left on a table on the verandah) out on the lawn... somewhat shredded, and smelling very strongly of fox pee!

I think now fox has crossed the line .

I know they are a pest ..but it's still nice to see one sitting unafraid in the headlight glare , or turn around and see it watching me as I bumble around with my camera ..

*sigh*

Obviously, I have failed to start work, partly because I'm having a cup of coffee, partly because I'm reading the news online and partly because I'm trying to come to terms with the fellow on the BBC's Media Show speaking enthusiastically about 'getting to 100% digital penetration in the UK'.

Anyway, here's one for the cryptozooology files:

From here.
Victorian Higher Education and Skills Minister Peter Hall's continued refusal to support cuts to the TAFE sector has sparked calls for him to resign.

Mr Hall wrote to TAFE college officials saying he shared their "shock" and "disbelief" at the government's decision to slash spending on four in five vocational courses as part of $100 million in cuts to skills funding.

How myopic are some of these politicians? In five years time they'll be in opposition and screaming "skills shortage".

Good to see this bloke taking his job seriously.

Hey this is awesome! I have the four forums on the one page! I love the hyperforums.

Gosh I am so tired. I am really tired. I keep doing painting at night and losing track of the time so I am going to bed very late which is not so bad at night but not good in the morning.

Hi Spock. Sometimes I get into a late night groove and while I love the wee small hours all to myself, the mornings and the kid/breakfast/school duties the next morning are not fun!

Here are some cool octopus pics and a video:

Good Evening Everyone ... all is peaceful and quiet ... Tea has been had and now it only remains for me to keep my eyes open for a while so I can pretend I am a grown up .

I had a better day today; really got some nice spots in under trees etc cleared up a bit and some seeds spread.

Watsonia and blackberries growing together meant that if I pulled up the watsonias a good many of the blackberries came out more easily too, which was an unexpected bonus.
I am trying to push the boundary of the weeds back a little from the foot path so I have a leg to stand on when asking the council not to spray along there.

Also I don't want the blue wrens nesting so close to the road (where we are going to be working on the gorse / erica and blackberries that they love so much) and which we are working on clearing properly in the Spring (by cutting and painting.

Today I found a bunch of the wavy gladioli.
Fortunately this year I know what they are and how to handle them (carefully, collecting all the millions of little bulblets), so this year it will be a better year in terms of better handling of the plant found. Last year a commercial weeding team came by and painted them very carefully with some weedkiller that I dare not use, so there are not nearly so many this year (only dozens :/)

I also found a heap of fruiting cotoneasters which I hadn't noticed before, in under a dense group of little trees that grow close the ground, but have a nice little space in between them ... almost hidden from sight ... must have been a beaut spot for birds to go and eat and poop.

Apart from that, same old same old.

My hands are getting a bit stiff / sore by the end of the long days, but a warm soaking and gentle limbering exercise seems to fix them fairly quickly.

So ... that's MY scintillating day!

Now I'll go back and see what others have written today in the forums ... bbl

Evenin' Scribbly. Sounds like folk have been busy today, myself included. I went to a fitness class today, circuit training. Since this was my first week I had to do an assessment. Passed with flying colours and actually surprised myself that I'm in better nick than I thought. According to the scores i got, I'm around 8-10 years younger than my real age apparently. Very happy about that.

Went for a fish this afternoon and got myself three small salmon, so that's three meals sorted this fortnight. I took my camera with me hoping to get a shot of the Sea-eagles up there, but was foiled again. Saw one flying in from the ocean, so went and grabbed the camera. Eagle flew along the beach in opposite direction and then turned and headed our way. Thought I'd get a chance for a couple of pics no probs, but bruddy thing veered off at last minute and went and landed in a tree out of range of my camera. I'm determined to get a pic of these things (there are four usually seen around the place). Next time!

People can be cruel ... or maybe it's unintentional ... either way.

I used to live in Kelso. I can almost guarantee that it's unintentional.

Edited to add: It's a good story, though. The kids deserve constantly-filled ice cream bowls for the rest of their childhoods.

Oh dear! that's unfortunate ... better than the other but still, unfortunate.

You'll make them fat Helix! It is an excellent story. Great outcome. Shame about the house but at least everyone got out.
