Yeah, good for you.

PETA only joins in "environmental debate" when fluffies are being injured or enslaved. Otherwise they just don't care. Case in point, this article. They are a single issue body, and environmentalism isn't it.

NP farmers are unlikely to endorse anything of environmental significance, most still regard the bush as the enemy that must be subdued, and they are not going to change their mind by planting a few trees on their land (of which they personally gain from).
Care to have a guess at what percentage of farmers are involved in Landcare LtS, bet you'd be surprised. Maybe in SW WA that attitude still prevails, but my experience is most farmers do far more good stuff for the environment than a lot of people give them due credit for. I happen to meet with a lot of farmers and attend field days on their properties to see this stuff for myself. They deserve respect, not demeaning. Yes, there are Neanderthals, but they're certainly not the majority you paint them as. As for their voting preferences, I've not asked, but I'd be surprised if at least a few didn't lean more right than left overall.

Anyway, that's me getting too far off-topic again.

And of course you are entitled to your opinion.

Most of Landcare is about sorting out the problems farmers have created for themselves. The environment is not about nature, it is about their property and what extra they can get out of it. I am not saying these people are Neanderthals, only most have little or no interest in nature.

Boxhead I am not saying that I am a PETA fan, but your statement is incorrect.

PETA expresses opinions on a variety of subjects, some of which are not that cute and cuddly.

“We realize that aggressive methods of defense must sometimes be resorted to under dire circumstances, whether the attacker is a flea, a bear, or a knife-wielding mugger. But PETA encourages nonlethal methods of insect and rodent control whenever possible.”

Not always. It isn't necessarily all about farmers, however farmers are usually stakeholders because in many cases the environment directly impinges on them as no one else lives there.
The environment is not about nature, it is about their property and what extra they can get out of it.
hmm, again this cannot be seen as a general rule. Though it does exist.

I'd alter that to, have misconceptions.
