Default The perpetual quiz thread
Would anyone be interested in a thread with the title " Perpetual quiz ", the outline for the quiz would be that a question is posted up and the first person to correctly answer is the one who posts the next question and so on.

Would be good if people didn't use google or wikipedia and the like to get the answer?

With all the learned minds on this forum I feel it would be hard to stump anyone, but that being said it may raise questions for other threads, also the novices on the forum like myself would be able to learn alot while everyone has a bit of fun.

Just a thought?

So who is going to post the first question?

Cheers.

I think this must be a trick question. I guess Pluto wasn't yet found or designated as a planet. Which leaves... Mars?

Isn't Mercury smaller than Mars? Surely Mercury was found by then?

Mercury and Pluto were both known in 1955.

All the planets were known in 1955 but Mercury was thought to be the smallest and also the hottest and coldest.
It was thought to be tidally locked with the same side permanently facing the Sun.

It certainly wasn't a trick question.
Mercury was thought to be the smallest, then Pluto, Mars, Venus, Earth Uranus, Neptune Saturn and Jupiter.
Mercury was also thought to be the hottest with one side permanently facing the Sun...
We now know that to be false with its rotation rate at 58 days and orbital rate at 88 days [from memory]

Why they had the info on Mercury so wrong I'm not sure...maybe its close proximity to the Sun?

I would like to know why a quiz on Scribbly is about astronomy? Can anyone answer that question?

Yeah, I wouldn't have claimed it, I was only saying Mercury because I thought Pluto was ruled out.

Because BC is asking the questions?

Doesn't matter where we put the thread, it will encompass everything anyway.

Is that your question? Because it's your turn to set one.

Edited to add: Okay. It's Twoy's turn.

I'm sorry you can't ask a question without correctly answering the last one.

Freakin' LOL.

Umm, uhhh, ok.

Well I'm a chemist, so what is the only letter that does not appear in the periodic table?

No peeking, and no putting multiple guesses in one post.
