(Test) post your photos for March. Images should display thumbnails that link to full-size images to allow threads to load more efficiently...
Here's a fluffy Pink Robin Petroica rodinogaster that kept me company in the Otways recently. He perched on low branches and rocks seeking out insects, often flying up into the air to collect those tasty morsels. bird_Petroica_rodinogaster_Otways110318-9585.jpg The Otways is a good place for waterfalls - here's Hopetoun Falls: waterfall_Hopetoun_Falls_Otways110318-9543.jpg Whilst in the Otways I also saw some fungus (Coprinellus sp). fungus_Coprinellus_sp_Otways110318-9457.jpg |

If I could do this with my camera I would be very very happy. chocolate box shot.. my wife used to say whenever one of those came up in a slide show. Watching people and their reactions whilst viewing a slide show of my selection I could tell that the human interest angle is more important than the perfect image. When I first showed a slide show to my remnant schoolfriend peers after we left school, I was told.. "Look don't get me wrong, you take very good photos of birds and bees and flowers.. but where are the people in it?" |

Here's some fungus:
Favolaschia calocera is a bright orange fungus that looks quite good but unfortunately is an invader from overseas. First identified in Australia in 2005 its now common in the Dandenongs. ![]() Hericium coralloides is found through much of the world and apparently has some medicinal qualities - I just like the look of them. I found a colony on a dead tree last year and yesterday I revisited to see how they were coming along this year - graced with amber drops. ![]() These Mycena viscidocruenta were growing on one side of a rotting stick where interesting the other side had fruiting bodies of Favolaschia calocera. I deliberately focused on the cute lil one. ![]() These Steccherinum sp can easily be overlooked in passing as just a blotch of pale fungus but then you'd miss seeing the cool forest of icicles you can see close-up. ![]() Only a little bit of fungus out so far but I hope to encounter more this weekend in east Gippsland. |
