or is it? What is to become of the US space program?

UriDepkeeks 07-21-2011 06:34 PM

they will start building the starship Enterprise...on a five year mission to seek out new worlds, explore places where no one has gone before...

Breilopmil 07-21-2011 06:47 PM

This is sad really. We have many technological advances to thank on the space program. It is a shame that like all education programs, this gets cut because the government doesn't know how to budget.

The money could probably be used more usefully to bomb another non threatening middle eastern country.

+1

There is so much more to learn out there and we are just letting it fall by the wayside. It's truly sad.

now you mention it pj....i've heard talk of landing on asteroids and on mars

It's truly sad. I never thought I'd see the day when we'll have to depend on other nations to get us to space..... A true indication of how far our nation has fallen. Billions for this, trillions for that.... Jack shit for Science. Plus the loss of about 7k jobs........

Yeah...... It's a very sad time.

Our space program money, along with money for many other worthy projects is being used to enrich the military industrial complex instead of enriching American lives and the lives of mankind. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/mad.gif

What would have been funny is if everyone had donned ape suits and rode on horses carrying guns to greet them. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/nod.gif

Very little progress I imagine will be made under heavy lift launch's.

If America wants to remain the number one in Space exploration, they're not going the right way about it. Science suffers for a little while in the meantime, but Japan or China or Europe will pick up where the US left off, so the real loser is only America.

Are you saying this situation is solely Obama's fault?

teodaschwartia 07-22-2011 11:28 PM

Bush had also planned to decommision the shuttle program.

However, his alternative was the Orion program, which seemed very interesting.
