BALTIMORE (Ticker) - The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a one-year extension with backup quarterback Kyle Boller on Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Ravens' first-round pick in 2003, Boller was seen as the team's quarterback of the future. He started 34 games in his first four seasons, but lost his starting job when Baltimore signed Steve McNair prior to the 2006 season. Boller has passed for 6,103 yards and 36 touchdowns while compiling an 18-16 record as a starter. He appeared in five games in 2006, completing a career-high 60 percent of his passes (33-of-55) for 485 yards and five touchdowns. "We have said all along how important Kyle is to this team, and this secures him for at least another season for us," Ravens coach Brian Billick said. "I am ecstatic," Boller said. "Baltimore is the place I really want to be. The Ravens have the best organization in the NFL, and I feel very fortunate that I'm going to continue to be a part of it." |
