Randy Moss
Vikings Interested - Raiders, Jets?, Ravens? Feb. 23 - The Vikings have agreed to trade Moss to the Raiders for linebacker Napoleon Harris and a pair of draft picks, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Minneapolis Star Tribune are reporting. The Vikings will reportedly get the No. 7 pick in this year's draft and a late-round pick in 2005. Although trades can't be announced until March 2, Moss' agent, Dante DiTrapano, is confident the deal will happen. "Nothing is official until March 2," DiTrapano told the Pioneer Press. "But don't be surprised if Randy Moss is wearing the Silver and Black this upcoming season." Word of the trade comes only days after Reggie Fowler, the man in line to purchase the Vikings, told the Star Tribune he has no intention of trading Moss. The Ravens and Jets are also believed to have serious interest in Moss. Travis Henry Bills Interested - Cardinals, Dolphins? Feb. 23 - The Bills are working on a trade that would send Henry to Arizona in exchange for offensive tackle L.J. Shelton, The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports. "There's a lot of activity on it, is all I can say," said Eric Metz, one of Shelton's agents. Henry, slowed by foot and leg injuries last season, lost the starting job to Willis McGahee, who is slated to be the top back again next season. Henry was limited to just 326 yards on 94 carries with no touchdowns in nine games. He had rushed for 1,000 yards the previous two seasons. Henry has said that Miami is where he'd like to end up, and Bills GM Tom Donahoe said he'd consider dealing Henry to the AFC East foe at the right price, The Palm Beach Post reported. L.J. Shelton Cardinals Interested - Bills?, Rams?, Buccaneers?, Bears?, Broncos Feb. 23 - Shelton appears to be on his way to Buffalo in exchange for RB Travis Henry, reports The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. The Cardinals granted Shelton permission to seek a trade, and the left tackle has high value now that Walter Jones has signed a new contract with the Seahawks. Shelton visited Buffalo last week and underwent a physical. The Rams, Bucs and Bears are also reportedly interested in Shelton. Laveranues Coles Redskins Interested - Jets? Feb. 23 - To avoid having to release Coles without getting anything in return, the Redskins are trying to trade the disgruntled wide receiver, according to The Washington Post. However, an NFL spokesman told The Washington Times that a trade could be nullified based on the signing bonus "give-back" scenario the team and Coles have discussed. If Coles is not allowed to waive the final installment of his $13 million signing bonus ($5 million), the 'Skins wouldn't have the cap flexibility to deal Coles. If Coles and the Redskins overcome this hurdle, would the Jets be interested in bringing Coles back New York? Perhaps, reports Newsday, depending on the price. Coles, a favorite of Jets QB Chad Pennington, began his career with the Jets before leaving for Washington as a restricted free agent two years ago. Despite catching a career-high 90 passes last season, the 27-year-old Coles has expressed displeasure with the team's offense and how he's been used. The Redskins signed Coles to a seven-year, $35 million deal in 2003. Any trade potential trade is contingent on Coles restructuring his contract. Derrick Mason Interested - Jets? Feb. 23 - While the Jets monitor the Laveranues Coles situation, Newsday reports they will keep a close eye on Mason, who has been released by the Titans. Even though he's only 5-10, Mason is considered a No. 1-caliber receiver and would be a nice complement to Justin McCareins and Santana Moss. Jeff Garcia Interested - Buccaneers?, Lions?, Cardinals? Feb. 23 - Garcia, who came close to joining the Buccaneers last offseason, is once again interested in playing for Jon Gruden, reports The Tampa Tribine. The Bucs, meanwhile, struggling to negotiate a new contract with Brian Griese, appear to gaining interest in Garcia with each passing day. Garcia, released by the Browns on Feb. 22, is hoping to land with a team that utilizes the West Coast offense. The Lions are also considered a strong possibility for Garcia, who had his best years under Detroit head coach Steve Mariucci while the two were in San Francisco. The Cardinals, expected to sign a veteran to compete with Josh McCown, also could be interested. Brian Griese Bucs What - Released? Feb. 23 - With the Bucs and Griese still unable to agree to a new contract, there's speculation that Griese could be released before March 2. If the two sides can't come to terms by March, Griese will be owed a $6-million roster bonus, which the Bucs have little intention of paying. With Griese's future up in the air and veteran Brad Johnson likely to be released to save room under the cap, Chris Simms is the only guaranteed QB who will return. |
