I don't follow.

You took the PS3 unit to another persons house but used the power cables at that house or did you bring all of yours? What exactly did he bring and what exactly did you take over?

Maybe the power cord going into the PS3 was loose?

Son took all his cables/cords to his PS3 that he uses at home, to his friends house. They hooked it up there and it worked just fine. Do the same thing here and it does not work. Powers up, but no video.

At this point we are resetting the TV, unplugged it and all. Waiting for a few minutes and will try again............

And how are you connected? Via the AV port to a red/white/yellow RCA plugs or are you using a HDMI cable? Are you pluged directly into the TV or are you plugging into your cable box,or VCR, or DVD or whatever?

HDMI direct to TV.
does it work with the RCA's?

i went with xbox 360 because the ps3, while super sweet, costs so much more. i don't want a 500 dollar brick, and given the reliability of the ps2 (i had 3 or 4 of them over the years) i went with xbox. i know it will brick, but the investment is far less (although likely more in the long run).

the one thing that peeves me is that psn is free, but xboxlive is about 10 bucks a month.

If the TV has more then one HDMI input port I would try to use a different one. Also you may need a new cable. They can short out.

Resetting the PS3 worked. Hold down power, beep twice, power down, power up........basically CTRL ALT DEL..........for PS3.

Thanks guys for your input!!
