Ask.com Search

I downloaded a free photo editing program and it came with the ask toolbar. I really needed the program so I said "Oh well I can uninstall ask later"

WRONG

How do I get this shit off my computer? If I type something in my address bar in Firefox, ask.com comes up.

It changed your default search engine - you'll have to go int the Firefox config menu to change it back.

Or, can you find it in the add or remove programs list in Windows?

Never download such strange toolbars. They can create havoc.

I already uninstalled the program and the add-on and I have clicked on every option I can find in Firefox, but if you have a specific suggestion tell me what to do!

Such programs usually come with spyware. Scan it.

DexOnenlyCymn 09-06-2009 10:09 AM

i am right now - the short scan didn't find anything so i am using a full scan

i am using malwarebytes

SawbasyWrab 09-06-2009 10:09 AM

type about:config into the address bar of Firefox

you'll get a warning, click that you'll be careful

in the filter box type keyword.URL and tell me what it says

A little while later....

I remembered how I fixed it and I got the value off of Keyword.URL - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

BUT THANKS SO MUCH because I would never have remembered this.

right-click on the line and choose Modify from the popup menu
replace the value with this if you want the Google search function back - copy just the link, not the < > on the ends

Ok, so you got it http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
