Some of this stuff you can do. Just plug and play... things I never thought about doing are simply doable.

I spent an hour online trying to figure out why my computer wasn't detecting my USB harddrive.

Turns out, I had actually plugged the USB into the Network port, and it actually fit.

um.. the network plug and the usb plug are completely different kinds of plugs... i doubt it 'fit' http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

peveballery 03-26-2006 03:52 PM

probably the width of the usb plug fit into the width of the network port. ...

funny nonetehless http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/lol2.gif

KuevDulin 03-26-2006 06:42 PM

Yep - same width. They sit side by side on the back of my Presario. Im surprised I didn't blow up my network card.

Poor planning on the part of Compaq. Obviously, If I am stupid enough to buy a notebook that sounds like a hairdryer with bad bearings, I'm stupid enough to plug an USB into anything it fits.

A coupld of weeks later, I found my girlfriend trying to plug a mouse into the s-video port, which looks almost identical.

WrigleyMike 03-26-2006 07:59 PM

yeaup, they are actually, the same size, share similar pins, and the only real difference is the insde package of the pin and slot the pin is plugged into.

( i looked ) http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/dunno.gif http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

lizadax 03-26-2006 10:16 PM

yeah true... the ps2 ports do look similar to svid...
and yeah i see what you mean about the usb thing - i actually think some one i know did that too once. i guess its an understandable mistake http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif
