Default Extreme Laptop?
Hi guys!

I am looking for a laptop (ideally the size of a netbook) that can operate for several days on end (up to 10 days) without being shut off.

We experimented with a hp netbook, but it shut down after a few days not being able to dissappate enough heat even in the cold weather.

Any ideas?

buy a cooling pad?

I would have never thought you would find trouble in this. I don't know much about netbooks. but my simple, cheap dell laptop hasn't been shut down in about 2 weeks now.

Why do you need a laptop for an obvious desktop job? Laptops aren't intended to run 24/7. Why do you need this and why will a desktop not do?

BF2T, a cooling pad won't cut it due to the conditions around it. If the air is over 100 degrees, it won't work.

Nline, other than the mobility issues? The computer will be moved frequently.

I think your problem is going to be testing the limits of physics. Thermodynamics are what they are. Short of having a custom build that pipes in refrigerated air, or something like that.

That is some pretty extreme environment you are needing to operate within. You might check on what they use in the windmills. It can be pretty extreme in there, too. I think Siemens does a lot of that work.
