Default Upgrading to Firefox 4.1
Have you upgraded to it?..

I'm using Firefox 3.6.17, which is the latest version FF downloaded and installed two days ago..

I just got a window asking if I wanted to upgrade to Firefox 4.0.1...
I clicked on "later", because I would like to find out if anyone here has downloaded and switched to it yet... and/or if you are running into any problems..

I always keep everything updated and upgraded to the latest versions, so I will eventually go to FF4 like I did with FF3 before.. but I've read conflicting reports, and don't want to rush into it until all the bugs have been fixed.. I'm just being cautious for now..

I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a 10 year old computer..

I think you mean Firefox 4.0.1.. Yes I have..

It is quite different looking and when you open the main page but much more compact and quick..

All the same functionality that has always been available on Firefox.. Basically a few older PlugIn's may not work but that will only be temporary..

I always try to tell people to stay away from all the Add Ons that are useless.. Such as Themes.. Yes you can add on Spell Check and AdBlockPlus but why put in stuff you do not need that can cause problems..

I find this version much faster as well.

Thanks!.. I forgot to add the zero..

I find this version much faster as well. I've used Firefox exclusively for many years and have always stayed away from unnecessary Plug Ins, Add Ons and any other stuff I don't need.. I like to keep things very simple..

I have a very slow dial-up connection, so I can't watch videos, and don't even have sound on my computer..

Do you know which are the older Plug Ins that might not work?..

I think I might give it a try.. Thank you.

I got the message a few minutes before I posted the thread, so you might get it soon..
I was surprised though, because they just did the other one two days ago..

I went looking for information at two forums I used to visit and post in, but didn't find anything related to the Plug Ins that might not work.. I'll probably give it a try, with crossed fingers..

Sure, no problem..

I looked and again the only plug ins I had to disable were my HP Printer ( Detect and Web Printing ) ones. This was not the firs time but oddly enough my printer still works fine with Firefox..

I know soon they have have updates..

I personally also disable Skype but that is of my own choice. I really don't like such programs running in my browser..

I just did when I got the window asking me about it. I forgot that I had already downloaded it before and uninstalled it. Not b/c of it's functionality or anything, but simply b/c it frustrates me b/c the "open in a new tab" and "open in a new window" are reversed in the drop down list when I right click and I keep opening new windows!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!

It's way better, firefox had been getting so slow and unreliable. So much so I had to switch to Chrome. But this is a real return to form.

I can't download it until at least next week, though I wish that house mate of mine would share his internet regardless of his excuses, lol

Thank you Francis..

I haven't had a printer since my old one bit the dust... You wouldn't believe how much money can be saved on ink!..

*sigh*.. Another thing I don't have to worry about.. No wireless reception where I live.. Only old fashioned wired phone and slow dial up connection, so those are just a dream for me..

I like to open new windows instead of tabs..
It makes it easier with a slow connection, because I can let the window load forever in the background, keep doing what I am doing, and even work on two things at the same time..
Amazing how everyone has different ways of doing the same things..

I installed Chrome, but can't get used to it.. It seems too clumsy to me..
I guess I've been using Firefox for so long, that my brain refuses to learn to use another browser..

Firefox used to be very fast when it first came out years ago, but like everything else, it got bloated..
I don't use anything on it that is not an absolute necessity, and it hasn't been too bad..

Chrome is just as slow on my computer, and tends to crash a lot..

Lock him out of the house long enough to download your new browser..
