I get a Broadband Link Error at least once a day. It just recently started when I had to buy a new router because my other one crashed. I need to figure out if the router is faulty or if it really is a problem with my DSL and I really don't want to sit on the phone with AT&T if I don't have to. Here is the message I have been getting and it call for me to reboot my system.

The Broadband Link is Currently Not Available
Error
Can’t Contact Internet Service Provider
The system could not contact your Internet service provider to create an Internet connection.

This can occur due to emergency network maintenance or other unforeseen temporary service disruptions. The Service LED light on the front of the system will automatically turn green once the problem has been resolved, typically within a short period.

If this condition persists, you can also try restarting your system by clicking the REBOOT SYSTEM button below.

Crappy service............but it happens with ALL of them. Suddenlink will drop me too. I don't like DSL, does not work for me, to work from home I have to have a high speed connection that only cable can give me. But I sure hate Suddenlink..........

But it's just odd that it started happening when I got the new router. It had never done it before. Now I am in a contract with AT&T because they cut my bill in half and I really don't want to go through the hassle of changing an email address I have had for 10 yrs but I will if they don't get this crap fixed soon!

What is the model and brand of the MODEM provided by AT&T? You can buy replacements at Best Buy. And buy combined modem wireless routers called 2wire routers at Best Buy.

I have the 2wire AT&T modem and router combo from Best Buy. It's what I had before and I just bought a new one to replace the old one

It's a 2Wire 2701HG-B

So are you connected wireless to it or via a patch cable? If you are connected wirelessly then you need to use a patch cable and connect directly to it for testing.

Ok so can you get to the router's configuration screens?

This usually works on them

http://gateway.2wire.net/management

you may get prompted for a password. Most routers it's 2wire or wireless.

From there you can look at the stats page and see if you are having line quality issues. There are also logs and a diagnostic page but you may not understand how to interpret it. Most likely you are going to have to call AT&T.

Yes everytime I get the error message above it prompts me for the password which I have set up to a personal one and not generic. I do not know how to interpret the diagnostic page. So my best bet is calling AT&T?

Copy and paste your diag results if you want to but most likely you've got a bad phone line and ASI at AT&T will need to check it out.

It looks like AT&T is dropped connection on there end. You are loosing there signal several times there.

Exactly what I told them. When I went through the VR system it said they found a problem on my line but the tech couldn't tell me anything about it.

It just recently started when I had to buy a new router because my other one crashed. I need to figure out if the router is faulty or if it really is a problem with my DSL and I really don't want to sit on the phone with AT&T if I don't have to. Here is the message I have been getting and it call for me to reboot my system. The Broadband Link is Currently Not Available Error Can’t Contact Internet Service Provider The system could not contact your Internet service provider to create an Internet connection. This can occur due to emergency network maintenance or other unforeseen temporary service disruptions. The Service LED light on the front of the system will automatically turn green once the problem has been resolved, typically within a short period. Ok so can you get to the router's configuration screens? This usually works on them http://gateway.2wire.net/management you may get prompted for a password. Most routers it's 2wire or wireless. From there you can look at the stats page and see if you are having line quality issues. There are also logs and a diagnostic page but you may not understand how to interpret it.
