Default Futile Question?
I am looking for some advice.

Is there a program out there that will automatically open another program at a given time, convert data from one form to another, then email the file?

One friend of mine said that this is equivelant to a Trojan, but I wouldn't know for sure.

Any ideas?

How would you do this manually? Convert what kind of file to what kind of file? Please explain EXACTLY what you wish to do.

Without knowing exactly what you're trying to do (more data would be helpful), one idea is to use Windows Task Scheduler to start whatever application you want to run at a specific time. What application that would be depends on the source of data you're trying to convert and what you're trying to convert it to. Not knowing that, all I can tell you is that you can write macros in Access to import data in one format, run conversion queries on it, and save it out in a different file format. You can command Access to send out emails at the end of a routine or you could use Task Scheduler to do that also.

Many thanks for the replies.

I realize that I am not giving enough information so as best as I can describe it ....

A program I use converts its data into a .las file. I understand it to be a type of CSV or SDV. This info is opened in Word, modified, and saved.

The data is imported into into a Mail Log file. From there it is modifed then emailed out.

Complicated enough?

I am trying to explore the programs better to see if there is a feature that I am unfamiliar with. If not, any suggestions?

The names of both programs would be real helpful. Some of our regular posters deal with Log files all the time and may be more familiar with both.
