Default How do you add images within your post?
Hi guys...

Im pretty computer literate but for the life of me I can figure out how to
add images within a post on this forum. Ive seen that a lot of posts have them but when I click on [Post New Thread]....I see no where where I can upload or insert images to include within the post.

Am I missing something or maybe dont have a certain level of permission.

A basic step by step would be helpful.

Thanks for any help.
Steph

When you hit "post reply", do you see a variety of buttons that will either change fonts, color of fonts, underline, or such? One of those buttons looks like a color postcard, green on bottom with an orangy circle.

Copy the properties of the picture you want to use, click on the "postcard" and paste the properties into the blank line. This will give you two http's though, so one will have to be deleted.

Does this make sense? Mac is the one I always turn to when I don't understand something online. Maybe he'll show up before long. Good luck!

No I dont have those options...

All I have is a Title dialog box [ ]
then a Message box (which is where im typing this message)
then some emoticon along the bottom

I did look toward the bottom of the "post" page and it said this...

You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts

So how do i get allowed to post attachments....which Im guessing includes photos...?

Sounds like your "Message Editor Interface" isn't set to allow formatting controls like images.

Go to User CP.

Under "Your Control Panel"/"Settings & Options", click "Edit Options".

Scroll down to the very bottom to find "Miscellaneous Options".

2nd from the bottom, change your "Message Editor Interface" from "Basic Editor - Simple Text Box" to "Standard Editor - Extra Formatting Controls".

Save your changes and you should be able to see all the new formatting controls including "Insert Image".

So how do i get allowed to post attachments....which Im guessing includes photos...? You can't. You are not allowed to upload attachments to this server. In all cases when you see a picture they have linked to another website to display the picture.

I've turned bb code parsing off for this....

To display a picture you need to post the entire URL link to the picture with the [img] tag in front and the [/img] at the end.

Like this:

[img]http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/greeks/religion/pictures/horse.jpg[/img]

As you can see I have the [img] tag in front of the FULL URL and the [/img] at the end and NO SPACES.

And now the same thing with the coding on:

Understand?

thanks everyone

I went to the User CP as suggested and now I have the more advanced posting options...

clear as mud from a user stand point...if it wasnt for someone here telling me where to look and what to select I dont think I would have found the answer alone.

thanks again.

look for more in my upcoming post in the Economic Development Forum....I recently rediscovered these articles that I cut from the MRT when I was a teenager and excited abou the boom Midland was having.(79-82) most of these are are now 30 years old or so. It'll be a walk down memory lane.

END TEST
