Matt's PC got a virus, so he wiped it clean and used his disc to reinstall XP. I'm under network connections now trying to create a new connection. I've gone through every option. My ISP is Comcast, and unless I need to type something in addition to that, that doesn't work.

Obviously it's not my connection, because the wireless is working.

So how do I get internet on the desktop?

EDIT: And the worst part is: when I try to trouble shoot, it says it can't pull the page up because I'm not connected to the internet!

We never did that. We just plugged the LAN cable in and it worked. Well, when we got internet anyhow.

No, it's plugged into the router which is plugged into the modem. Same as it was earlier today before he redid his computer.

Yeah the TCP/IP settings have to be it since it was reformatted, they need to be set up for the cable modem again.

Thats why you aren't getting internet then, in order for it to access the net you need the network connection, you'll have to add one
