Windows update?

Please bear with me, I am not very computer literate. My desktop has Windows XP, I think LOL. There was something said about Microsoft not supporting Windows XP with automatic updates anymore after a certain date. Has that taken affect, and if so where can I go to download the update myself?

I never trusted 'em anywho. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../icon_evil.gif I go here for manual updates:

Of course being the always temperate Microsoft, you need to access it using IE 5 or later. (They don't seem to care for Firefox).

Microsoft's end of life policy can be found here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/default.mspx

In a nutshell Microsoft will provide support for Xp for 4 years following it's end of availability. It was pulled from the market officially in June. So it will be supported through June of 2012.

That's alright. Not only are you not very computer literate but I think computer e-literate. That makes millions of us!!!

I guess those updates are their way of putting their own viruses. But I don't think they want their viruses to be called viruses. But they sure do want us to register, for what purpose you can only guess. When you come to think about it, the providers etcetera do think that our computers are their business when actually it is none of their business. Some of them even go to the extent of suspending say our ability to google to coerce us into doing what they want.
