I kinda got a kick out of listening to Gimelstob discuss Lukas Rosol during his qualifying match. I guess they have to think of something positive to say during a qualifying match, but did he have to discuss Rosol's chances of winning a major someday? I mean, are we supposed to take that seriously?

I've mentioned this before, but Daniel Kosakowski is the younger brother of my local pro. His match is on TV right now and it is so great to see a kid you know just crushing the ball. He is up 4-2 on the #2 seed.

My kid won!!! After saving a match point in the 3rd set TB!

Dancing banana please!

Bedene is actually ranked 82nd but didn't get direct entry into the Open because his uptick happened after the cutoff.

That elf Odesnik lost so Daniel will get to play Moriya tomorrow for a spot in the maid draw!

Hope he has enough left in the tank.

So Michelle Larcher De Brito was up 6-2, 5-0 before losing to Elina Svitolina 2-6, 7-5, 6-3. Girl has remained off the wagon apparently. Also Berrer lost 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 after being up 6-1, 5-1 and Putintseva was also up 6-1, 5-1 before losing 1-6, 7-6(7), 7-5. Yikes.

WOW! That's a lot of choking.
...
Controversy already in the Ormaechea-Keys match. Ormaechea was moving forward and Keys blasted a low ball at her. Ormaechea hit the ball down into the court and then it bounced over. Watching the point it looked like she hit an amazing volley, but the replay made it obvious. Ormaechea had already quit the point, before realizing the ump thought she had made the shot. She took the point without saying anything, even after Keys talked to the ump.
...
I was wondering if there's a difference in what's unsportsmanlike and what's fair game depending on countries. I was thinking of how MJMS and Gonzalez have had similar "touching" drama. Henin is famous for her "what hand?" I couldn't think of any American's with similar issues and was wondering if we preach sportsmanship more. Then I remembered Huber had something similar at the AO this year against Mirza/Vesnina where a ball bounced twice but she took the point.
...
For me, I was playing a league doubles match last year when I badly missed a second serve and hit the net guy. It was break point and the other three players started walking off, counting it as a double fault. I said "isn't that my point?" They said "well yeah, but you don't want to take it, right?" Since I was new and my partner wanted to give it to them, I did, but hell yeah I wanted that point! Next time I would probably insist. It wasn't on purpose, but thems the rules. So there's an example where I'd take the point from a silly accident, but others disagree.

What are your thoughts? Yes, you.

While I'm enjoying the qualies on TV, there has been a lot of really lousy tennis. Ormaechea is up a break in the first set 5-3, and she hasn't hit a winner yet.

She finally accidentally hit one on a break point for Keys. Ormaechea seems kind of...well, I'll call her feisty. When she "come ons" she sounds like she puking on the court.

That's only because she's playing Keys. Keys takes a big swing and makes really poor choices when rushed. Ormaechea has been hitting deep balls right at her and is rewarded with a stream of errors.

Also, the stat keeping is spotty. The controversial point I talked about earlier is technically a winner for Ormaechea. Also, in her match with Nakamura they only counted the aces and double faults as winners and errors.

Yeah, if she stopped going for winners every shot like James Blake, Ormaechea would be making a lot more errors, I think.
